Methodology

The research was straightforward for the most part. We used the following strategies to find success metrics for the gamification platforms:

For the mobile applications (Habitica, Zombies Run!, Byju's, Fortune City, Mango Health, and Sidechef), we used the Google Play Store reviews as well as the number of downloads to measure their success. We assumed that a rating close to 5, which is the highest rating, means that the application is successful among its users.
For the online platforms (Engagedly, Agile CRM, and Gameffective), we looked through review sites where users often submit their opinions such as Capterra (for Engagedly and Agile CRM), and G2Crowd (for Gameffective). Again, We assumed that a rating close to 5, which is the highest rating, means that the application is successful among its users.

Habitica is a free productivity app that helps its users to track their habits and goals. It is used to improve school and work, health and fitness, and other customizable habits or goals. Users can earn rewards or get punishments, and this motivates them to achieve their goals. They can also play with other users.
