The top information sharing and analysis centers (ISACs) and information sharing and analysis organizations (ISAOs) include Financial Services ISAC, Electric Power Sector ISAC and Research Education Networking ISAC. A full list of the top ten ISACs/ISAOs is provided below.
To compile this list, we analyzed ISACs and ISAOs according to the number and size of enterprise members to determine those that have the best pools of potential customers. We first identified the 23 ISACs/ISAOs specified in the source provided with this request. We then cross-checked this source with credible independent sources to verify findings. Lastly, we thoroughly reviewed the official websites and press releases of each of the 23 ISACs/ISAOs to determine the number and size of enterprise members. In cases where the size of enterprise members was not available, we took into account other relevant data such as combined member revenue, partnerships with other ISACs, and quality of membership base (e.g. if members include major, well-known companies).
TOP 10 ISACs/ISAOs LISTED BY NUMBER OF MEMBERS
1. Financial Services ISAC (FS-ISAC)
Members: approximately 7000
Relevant findings: Founded in 1999, FS-ISAC is "member-driven" and aims to "assure the resilience and continuity of the global financial services infrastructure and individual firms against acts that could significantly impact the sector’s ability to provide services critical to the orderly function of the global economy."
2. Electric Power Sector ISAC
Relevant findings: According to Electric Power Sector ISAC's latest annual report (2017), the organization "maintains a close working relationship" with the major ISACs/ISAOs of other sectors (energy, water, communication, financial services, transportation, healthcare, information technology, and government). Members are based in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
3. Research Education Networking ISAC (REN-ISAC)
Relevant findings: Members include such well-known educational institutions as the American Museum of Natural History, Appalachian State University, Boston University, Duke University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Texas A&M University, Tulane University, University of California - Berkeley, University of Chicago, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Vanderbilt University, Virginia Tech, and Yale University.
4. National Health ISAC (NH-ISAC)
Relevant findings: The NH-ISAC membership base includes key players in the healthcare industry including both providers and payers. Approximately 15% of members are pharmaceutical companies and 9% are medical device manufacturers.
5. Downstream Natural Gas ISAC (DNG-ISAC)
Relevant findings: DNG-ISAC "coordinates very closely" with the Electric ISAC (E-ISAC). Members include 196 All American Gas Association Full Members and 27 All Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) members.
6. Multi-State ISAC (MS-ISAC)
Relevant findings: The MS-ISAC membership base represents "all 50 states and hundreds of U.S. territories, tribal nations, and local governments."
7. Communication ISAC
Relevant findings: Members include such major enterprises as Amazon Web Services, AT&T, Blackberry, Boeing, Cisco, Comcast Cable, Cox Communications, Lockheed Martin, Nokia, Northrop Grumman, Qualcomm, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon, and Vonage.
8. Defense Industrial Base ISAC (DIB-ISAC)
Relevant findings: Also known as the Defense Security Information Exchange (DSIE), DIB-ISAC is "a successful and growing threat sharing mechanism..., with the intent of the [former] President of the United States as expressed [by executive order]." Member enterprises include General Electric, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon and have a combined annual revenue of more than $1.16 trillion.
9. Information Technology ISAC (IT-ISAC)
Relevant findings: IT-ISAC's member base includes such well-known enterprises as AT&T, Cisco, Dell, HP, IBM, Intel, Juniper, Lockheed Martin, Netflix, Oracle, and Philips Lighting.
10. Auto ISAC
Relevant findings: Members of Auto-ISAC "account for more than 99 percent of light-duty vehicles in North America, with over 30 global [original equipment manufacturer] and supplier members."
The top ten ISACs/ISAOs range in membership from approximately 30 members to 7000 members. In compiling this list, we took into account the number and size of member enterprises as well as relevant findings such as partnerships with other ISACs, quality of the membership base, and the combined annual revenue of members, depending on what information is available via official ISAC websites, credible third-party sources, and press releases.
