What are the Founding Member Setups for SoHo House, Neuehouse, and Spring Street Studios
Hi there, and thanks for asking Wonder! I understand you'd like an analysis of the founding member benefits/setups for SoHo House, Neuehouse and Spring Street Studios. In short, my research determined that this information is not available in public resources. Exhaustive search through interviews with founders, media articles on the clubs, club websites, archived cache pages, and financial reports indicates that, while this information may be available in internal documents, it has not been released to the public. While one could reasonably assume that a founder has deeper benefits than regular members, there is no way to confirm this. The only information publicly available is a limited list of member benefits for Neuehouse. I did, however, learn how the founding members for the Toronto SoHo House were vetted. Below you'll find my research methodology and associated findings.
METHODOLOGY
Please note that, for the purposes of this research, I have refer to 'Spring Street Studios' as a club, even though it is more properly a studio leasing venture. I began by researching club websites for information about general membership benefits, in order to provide a potential comparison point. This search indicated that even this information is very limited; what I was able to find is included below. I then researched archived website pages as well as financial filings for each company, but these search strategies generated no relevant results. Next, I performed various advance search permutations for founder benefits associated with each club: I searched specifically during the founding timeline of each club, and researched interviews with the founders as well as media articles about the clubs across all timelines. This search generated some supporting information about how SoHo House selects founding members for new Houses, which I have detailed below.
Lastly, I researched for more general information on founding member benefits for such clubs in general, but this information was also unavailable in public resources.
SUPPORTING INFORMATION
As you are likely aware, SoHo House is a "notoriously tight-lipped club" which has strict confidentiality policies. Neuehouse is less exclusive, and its home website details the tiers of its main membership benefits. Spring Street Studio, on the other hand, has an extremely sparse website, and there was no media information or articles available other than press releases for art show openings. I have provided the information relative to membership that is available in public resources, but I will note that none of it is specific to founding member benefits, as that information appears to be unavailable to the public.
SOHO HOUSE FOUNDING MEMBER VETTING
According to a Toronto Life article covering the launch of the Toronto SoHo House, founding members for a the Toronto SoHo House were selected by a "disparate and previously unacquainted group of artistic influencers and tastemakers." Committee members were asked to submit 20-25 names of potential applicants, and these were mailed invitations to apply. The resulting applications were then vetted by the same committee.
NEUEHOUSE MEMBERSHIP
Neuehouse membership is available by tiers, from a $150 'Noir' membership, which gives the member evening and weekend access, to the $3,500+ 'Resident' membership, which gives the member a dedicated desk and unrestricted access to all communal and private spaces in the club.
CONCLUSION
To wrap it up: extensive research indicates that information on founding member benefits is not available in public resources, largely because these clubs vest significant importance in confidentiality, and neither founding members nor their benefits have been disclosed to the public. The only information my research discovered relative to founding members, is how such members were selected for the Toronto SoHo House. Thanks again for using Wonder! Please let us know if there is anything else we can research for you.
