What are the five most successful companies making gear for rodeos in Texas?
Hi! Thanks for asking Wonder to find the five most successful companies making gear for rodeos in Texas.
The short answer is Justin Brands, Action Company, Cactus Ropes, RideRight and Willard Ropes are the top five companies making rodeo gear in Texas. Below you will find a deep dive into my findings.
METHODOLOGY
To determine these companies, I first looked at large retailers of rodeo gear and compiled a 'long list' of around 30 major brands being sold. I then narrowed down that list to only those companies located in Texas (I found nine in total). Finally, I checked the revenue of those companies and narrowed down the list to the top five by revenue:
1) JUSTIN BRANDS, INC.
Justin are most well-known for their boots. While not "gear" in the equipment sense of the word, appropriate boots are an essential part of participating in a rodeo's toolkit. Without the right boots, riding, roping and bucking is difficult. They create special lines of boots specifically for rodeo activities like roping.
2) ACTION COMPANY (ABETTA SADDLES)
Action Company make Abetta Saddles, a reputable and saddle crafter since 1968. They are a large wholesaler and manufacturer overall, but their saddles are particularly used for roping competitions. They also sell spurs, straps, whips and crops under other brand names.
3) CACTUS ROPES
Cactus make high quality ropes which are used in several different types of rodeo competitions. Their ropes are endorsed by many PRCA champion ropers. They have been around for 25 years and are located in Pleasanton, TX.
4) RIDERIGHT
RideRight make extremely popular rodeo vests, worn by many champion cowboys and sold in most reputable rodeo equipment retailers. Their vests use a proprietary blend of materials called the "Impact Dispensing Shield" to protect bull and bronco riders in competition.
5) WILLARD ROPES
Located in Rockdale, Willard are a smaller but prestigious rope maker. Their products are found all over the US, Canada, Brazil, Australia and more.
CONCLUSION
To wrap up, I have found the top five companies making rodeo-related gear in Texas. If you'd like us to expand our search outside of Texas, or look for brands perhaps sold in Texas but made elsewhere, please feel free to submit follow-up questions and another Wonder researcher will be happy to help.
