Can you find the best employer branding case studies & most well know employer branding professionals (people)?
Hello, and thank you for using Wonder!
You asked us to find the best employer case studies, and the most well-known professionals working in the area of employer branding.
We have found more than 10 case studies of exceptional employer branding during our research. A list of short summaries follows below. Note that in many of these studies, the talent or HR manager is regarded as pivotal in the management of employer branding, so their names are included where possible.
METHODOLOGY:
Several of these case studies were compiled by Randstad Holding, a multinational HR consultant firm, and the 3rd largest staffing firm in the world based on revenue.
Others were found on HR or marketing focused blogs and websites.
A SHORT LIST OF THE COMPANIES MENTIONED
IKEA:
Winner of the 2015 Randstad Award, and considered the most admired employer in its home country of Sweden in Randstad's own survey conducted in 2015/2016.
The company places a lot of emphasis on employee welfare not just in terms of fair salaries, working conditions, but motivation, training, and personal fulfilment as well.
A good example of the IKEA mindset is mentioned in the study, where applicants are encouraged to bring a photo of their own living rooms, and to have a conversation about what inspires them in home furnishing.
IKEA Sweden's Talent Manager is Lars-Erik Fridolfsson.
Rated as the #1 company Swiss people would like to work for by a 2016 Randstad survey. According to the survey the company is regarded as the one with the most interesting jobs, best career progression, best working atmosphere, and other areas.
Emphasis is put on a holistic approach to individual skills. During the selection process actual technical expertise is only one of four areas considered, the others being leadership, adaptiveness, and what the company calls "Googleyness", or how well the person will fit into the company atmosphere.
Google Switzerland's HR Business Manager is Elodie Lhuillier.
Overall, Microsoft is one of the top companies most people want to work for not just in the US, but globally, according to Randstad.
Emphasis is put on a start-up like vibe and flat company structure, while also using the resources and experience a 42-years old multinational company can offer.
Employees are encouraged to create smaller teams and be active in innovating new ideas, while company bureaucracy is reduced as much as possible.
Microsoft's Head of Global Talent Acquisition is Chuck Edward.
In 2011, Dell started working on reinventing its brand marketing not just towards potential employees and customers, but towards in-company members.
The company developed a close relationship with Dell Blue, its own internal marketing agency to enhance their branding and communication process.
The case is notable in that it emphasizes cooperation between different company branches based on trust and respect. The results that come from this relationship are detailed in the case study, but overall Dell has been developing an image of a lively and appealing employer brand.
Jennifer Newbill is Director Global Employment Brand at Dell.
The package-handling giant radically changed its hiring strategy from mostly offline to a mix of offline and online, then mostly online platforms, with great success.
The strategy included a strong emphasis on social media interactions and a website with a focus on day-today life at the company.
With precise market data and a creative hook dreamed up by the employees that were working in the same area they were trying to hire for, the company managed a successful UX designer recruitment campaign.
By expanding into social media, and establishing a presence on LinkedIn with an emphasis on Nova System's culture and expertise, the company was able to reach out to several potential employees, also landing a project in the process.
The company successfully developed a robust branding strategy to promote its company culture and focus on a strong social media presence.
Lori Russo and Stacy Zapar are responsible for leading the campaign.

Their employment branding mixed active social media interaction with communicating interesting projects and innovations through those channels and events.
The company created the Leadership Lab conference, a unique experience in which Starbucks essentially pitches its own brand to its employees and managers to create "brand evangelists".
