List of European Furniture Producers- Part 1, The List

Details of 20 manufacturers from Eastern Europe have been provided in this spreadsheet. This spreadsheet includes an overview of each company, the city and country of location, as well as sources referred.

methodology

The names of the companies have been found from Furniture.eu, a website where European furniture manufacturers are able to display information on its company and products to its customers. Since the research request placed an emphasis on Germany, 13 of the companies listed are from Germany. While the 7 remaining companies are from other parts of Eastern Europe; specifically, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine and Hungary.

However, not all the companies had published the size of their manufacturing facilities on their websites or on Furniture.eu. Hence, this information was provided in the findings (overview section in the spreadsheet) based on availability.

key Findings

-Elastoform is a manufacturer of upholstered furniture from Germany founded in 1919. The company produces several hundred pieces of furniture daily in its 75,000 square meter production facility.

-Abauj is based in Hungary with a factory area of 7.7 hectares.

-Draenet Studio is a German manufacturer which mainly focuses on dining and coffee tables with patented extension-mechanisms, as well as chairs matching in form and style.

Conclusion

In conclusion, a list of 20 Eastern European furniture manufacturers has been provided in this spreadsheet. The companies are located in Germany, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine and Hungary.

European Furniture Producers- Part 2, Company Details and Financials

The requested information for the furniture manufacturers included in the spreadsheet that was created during the first part of this request has been compiled. As all the companies are privately owned, there was not a lot of financial information publicly available. Some companies had estimated revenues on sites such as Hoovers. I entered those amounts, along with the rest of the requested information, into the attached spreadsheet.

WHOLESALE AND DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS

The companies included in the spreadsheet use different distribution channels. Some are only customer direct while others are only retail. Still, others do both. The companies that use solely customer direct distribution are Dreipunkt International, E15, and Gerbor Holding. Furniture manufacturers who use retail as their means of distribution are Abauj, Alprom, Alson, and D-tec. Finally, furniture manufacturers who use both retail and customer direct distribution channels are Walter Knoll, Atelier fuer Holzbau, Behr International, Bruhl, Draenert Studio, Erpo, Vizatel, Rexwood, Merx, and Eastern Colonial.

COMPANY SIZE — REVENUES AND/OR # OF EMPLOYEES

All the companies included in the spreadsheet are privately owned and none of them make their annual reports or financial statements publicly available. Estimated revenue was available through Hoovers for some companies. A few companies provided the number of employees they currently have. Unfortunately, there are some companies for which none of this information is publicly available. The companies for whom estimated revenue could be located are E15, Walter Knoll, Behr International, Draenert Studio, and Gerbor Holding. The companies who provided their number of employees are D-tec, Merx, and Abauj. Finally, the companies for which none of the requested information was publicly available are Bruhl, Alprom, East Colonial, Alson, Rexwood, Vizatel, Atelier fuer Holzbau, and Erpo,

MANUFACTURE PRINCIPLES OR FACILITY INFORMATION

The information available for the included companies varied widely. Some companies gave detailed information about their views toward sustainability and social responsibilities while others made no mention of either. Some companies gave fairly detailed facility information while others gave nothing. The information that was provided was compiled and entered into the attached spreadsheet.

FURTHER FINANCIAL INFORMATION

The privately owned companies listed in the spreadsheet did not share any basic or further financial information.

SALES CHANNELS

The companies all had sales channels that were either online sales, customer order sales, or regular retail sales in stores or through dealers. E15, Walter Knoll, Bruhl, Daernert Studio, Erpo, Abauj, Alprom, Merx, and D-tec all sell their products internationally. The remaining furniture manufacturers sell their products only in their country, region, or locality.

CONCLUSION

Since all the companies are privately owned, no company-provided financial information was publicly available but estimated revenue was used when available. The information available for each company varied in detail but all publicly available information has been compiled and entered into the attached spreadsheet.
