• Industrial Trades I and II is a two-year program offered at Heartland Technical Academy and allows people interested in manufacturing and construction have a promising career. It requires an understanding of basic principles in both construction and manufacturing and the development of basic hands-on skills. The course offers "basic construction trade skills, such as wiring, plumbing, drafting, and carpentry will be introduced as well as basic manufacturing skills, such as foundry concepts, machining, and assembly, Industrial safety, the interpretation of drawings, and problem-solving techniques."
• Heartland Technical Academy offers a Welding I and II program that introduces learners to hands-on training in common welding processes. The course primarily focuses on a shielded metal arc. Other skills "include oxy/acetylene and plasma arc cutting, and carbon arch gouging as well as other hands-on welding applications." After learning the course, students will earn college credit through Richland Community College.

• Manufacturing Engineering Technology Certificate develops technical skills in manufacturing technologies. Students receive training on engineering concepts of manufacturing including motor control, AutoCAD design, and robotics. It provides students with the skills to forge a careers in advanced manufacturing.

• Machine Repair Certificate equips students with skills in manufacturing repair. Students learn machine troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance. Critical skills, such as Occupational Safety and Motor Control Applications, taught in this certificate equip students with expertise to become machine repair specialists.

• Basic Welding Certificate (032C) is a program provided by Richland Community College, the program equips students with skills for employment as a CNC operator or CNC Programmer. • The Welding Skills Certificate offered at Heartland Community College includes basic skills in industrial welding. Students are taught about selecting and using appropriate materials, equipment, and tools, including weld design and inspection. With these skills, an individual is eligible for an entry-level position as a welder in construction, manufacturing, and general industries.

• This welding and fabrication technology program at the College Lake Country is designed to equip students with the required skills to be employable for welding-related jobs such as welding, soldering, and brazing.

• City Colleges of Chicago's Welding Engineering Technology, Advanced Certificate course allows students to learn welding skills such as MIG, TIG, machine operation, CNC fabrication, weld blueprint reading, and metal cutting. This is a hands-on course and students will develop relevant skills that are in demand.
• City Colleges of Chicago's Electrical Construction Technology, Basic Certificate course prepares learners for training as apprentices by a union electrical contractor. The course is offered by Richard J. Daley College. Electricians are responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and testing of electrical equipment.
• Prairie State College's Manufacturing Technology Certificate course is intended for students who do not wish to pursue an associate degree but yet desire the technical know-how and abilities required for employment in the manufacturing industry.
