Ecotools
Description of Campaign and Methods/Platforms Used
- Ecotools launched its Earth Day marketing campaign called "Live Give Beautifully" a week before Earth Day in 2015. This campaign aimed to donate product earnings to Global Green USA.
- Platforms and methods used for this campaign include web banners, emails, as well as programmed advertising and banners for social media. The marketing material included images of the actress Sophia Bush and the campaign slogan was sometimes paired with the corporate logo.
- Their campaign had national coverage in Forbes.
Metrics of Success
- The brand received a $100,000 donation within hours of launching the campaign, which reflects a success among consumers.
Coronado Brewing Company
Description of Campaign and Methods/Platforms Used
- Coronado Brewing Co. launched a marketing campaign around Earth Day to differentiate itself, increase brand awareness, and engage with millennials.
- To promote its new craft beer, the brand launched “smart” beverage coasters to interact with users’ mobile phones. The campaign was also focused on Earth Day and used cause marketing, with a portion of earnings going to the Surfrider Foundation.

Metrics of Success
- The brand had an increase in consumer engagement based on coaster tap rates, a 92% increase in mobile traffic to their website. The “tap rate per box” was 2.24% at the best-performing location, while the average tap rate for boxes was 1.65%. These results demonstrate the high consumer acceptance.
Get Outdoors Day — Successful Campaigns
After searching through marketing companies' sites, news outlets, and outdoor brands' websites, among other sources, we were unable to provide any examples of successful campaigns that brands have executed around Get Outdoors Day. The reason why this information is not publicly available may be because outdoor brands are not trying to engage with customers on this specific day.
Useful Findings
- We found an example of marketing efforts conducted by Fall Creek Branding alongside Choose Outdoors, a non-profit organization, to support a National Get Outdoors Day event at Denver City Park in 2010.
- Every year, US state parks promote National Get Outdoors Day on their websites and sometimes the events are covered by the media. Some examples are Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point, Mark Twain National Forest, and Louisiana’s Office of State Parks.
- State governments, like Pennsylvania, also promote Get Outdoors Day on their websites.
- In most National Get Outdoors Day events, outdoor brands do not even participate as sponsors.
