How many downstream oil and gas marketers are there in the USA?

FINDINGS
According to the Petroleum Marketers Association of America(PMAA), there are over 8,000 registered independent petroleum marketers across the United States who are under states and regional trade association.
Nacsonline tends to refer petroleum retailers as "petroleum marketers". It further reported that petroleum marketers are convenience stores that sell motor fuels. As at 2016, the United States has about 154,535 convenience stores. 80.1% of these stores representing about 123,807 outlets sell motor fuels. Out of these figures, 37% of the stores are owned and operated by major oil companies and big wholesale operators while 63% are single store owned by the small business retailers. If we discount the large players, we will have about 77,998 convenience stores which sell petroleum products and are singly managed. We can then safely assume this figure to be the total number of downstream oil and gas marketers.
ADDITIONAL INSIGHT
According to a report, the revenue generated by gas stations with convenience stores was estimated at $482 billion in 2014, with CAGR of 6% between 2009 and 2014.
A 2016 market study reported by Nielsen stated that about 80% of the fuel sold in the United States is through convenience stores. The state of Texas has over 16,000 stores and would invariably have the highest number of oil and gas marketers. 7-Eleven has the highest number of convenience stores with about 8,300.
A 2017 Ibis report stated that revenue from gas stations with convenience stores in the US is estimated at $343 billion, a drop of 5.7% compared to revenue for 2012. This fall might be as a result of the drive towards using sustainable energy.
