CALCUALTIONS AND RESEARCH STRATEGY

To find the number of people with physical and mental disabilities as a percentage of the total population of each country mentioned above, we leveraged information about the number of mentally and physically disabled people, as provided in a previous request. The population of each country was determined from this source, and used in calculating the percentages as exemplified below.
For example, the United States has a population of 329,093,110. Of this population, 56.7 million are disabled. The disabled population comprises 15.2 million mentally disabled people and 41.5 million physically disabled people. Thus, the mentally disabled population represents (15.2 million/329,093,110) * 100% of the entire population = 4.62% of the entire population; the physically disabled population represents (41.5 million/329,093,110) * 100% of the entire population = 12.61% of the entire population. The entire mentally disabled population represents 4.62% + 12.61% = 17.23%. The corresponding figures for the other countries were calculated likewise.
