Research Strategy

We started our research by looking for publicly available lists of the top digital signage brands in the residential real estate market in the U.S. We looked through news sites such as CIO Review, review sites such as Capterra, and market reports on sites such as Reuters, Market Watch and Globe News Wire, among others. We were able to find insights on the top digital signage brands.

We then looked through these lists further to check which of the identified top digital signage brands operate in the residential real estate market in the U.S. The list from CIO Review only had one such brand, Mvix; the list from Capterra had several brands; and the lists from the market reports did not contain any digital signage brands in the residential real estate market. We, therefore, decided to use the lists from Capterra and CIO Review, with the top brands identified based on their high ratings. Although Mvix was not featured in Capterra's list of top 20 digital signage brands, we included it because it was the only relevant brand featured by CIO Review, it has won several awards, and we were able to determine that it has a high rating by checking its rating on Capterra.

Digital Signage in Residential Real Estate: Trends

Although we could not determine trends specific to digital signage in residential real estate in the United States, we have provided some helpful findings around digital signage in residential and commercial real estate.

The use of Automated digital advertisement in the residential sector

  • Digital signage is used by residential real estate operators to automate the digital advertisement process using large, "high-resolution images" or videos to attract attention in public locations and reach more residents than the results they would have obtained if the internet or Facebook were used.
  • About 14% of the digital signage consumers in the US are currently using residential-grade displays and 12% more are expected to start using it in next two years.
  • Examples of companies/businesses that are pushing the trend include Google and Facebook. "Google’s dynamic headlines in search engine results pages and Facebook’s advertising platform which provides a huge amount of options on what ad to serve and when."

The use of digital signage to light up residential properties at a low cost.

  • Digital signage is being used recently in the residential real estate verticals to offer space-as-a-Service, and also to give clients an ability to "light up" their residential properties at a low cost.
  • Traditional residential real estate buildings are adapting by using digital signage to charge-up windows, lobbies, as well as "reception areas of commercial and residential" real estate.
  • Matterport is a residential real estate vertical that provides "an end-to-end platform" for fast and easy creation, understanding and distribution of 3D advert models using digital copies of real-world arrays (arrangements) using the internet (web), mobile, AR, as well as VR applications.
  • The company uses over one million 3D models obtained from the real-world environment and has the world's largest database of 3D displays around the globe. Its artificial intelligence-based computer vision technologies power the vertical operator to produce digital copies of physical spaces.

Research strategy.

To determine some trends related to digital signage in residential real estate in the United States, we began by analyzing different industry reports like the ones presented by Grand View Research, IBISWorld, and Markets and Markets, among others. Our objective was locating any data published about the trends related to digital signage in residential real estate, particularly about condos. However, while this search brought insights about the industry market size, growth, or the application of digital signage in the United States' market, it did not contain helpful information about the "Trends."

Our next strategy was to look for companies that offer digital signages in the United States. We aimed to identify how they are implementing this service in the Residential sector. We searched for the information through sites such as NEC Display Solutions of America, BrightSign, Planar System and, many more. We considered that the key players of the industry would be aware of their market and might have published information about the recent happenings in the sector. We then checked through their publications and reports, focusing on what's trending in the segment. We were able to find that about 14% of the digital signage consumers are currently using residential-grade displays and 12% more are expected to start using it in the next two years. The source also yielded the companies pushing the trend. Unfortunately, we could not determine the factors driving the trend.

Our third strategy was to look for information on professional sites dedicated to the news and information about the digital signage industry like Digital Signage Today, and Digital Signage Plus, among others. We aimed to see if any of these publications have mentioned the trends around Residential Condos or Multi-units. We were able to find an additional trend which was from a global source and was from commercial real estate. Unfortunately, we could not find details about the factors driving the trend. Although the above trends are not specific to real estate or the United stated, we believe they could be help the client understand the digital signage market.
