Digital Media Literacy: Italy
Three additional organizations that are actively promoting digital media literacy in Italy are Lifelong Learning Platform's Digital working group, the Facebook Journalism Project, and All Digital. The requested details for each organization is provided in the attached spreadsheet.
Digital Media Literacy Players
- Lifelong Learning Platform Digital working group was established in 2015 and focuses on all topics related to learning, including digital and media literacy.
- Facebook is actively trying to improve digital media literacy in Italy both by launching digital hubs in three European countries, including Italy, and by hosting digital literacy sessions for journalists.
- All Digital, formerly known as Telecentre Europe, was founded in 2010 and has digital media literacy as one of its five areas of focus.
Although 10 players in the area of digital media literacy were identified, it was challenging locating 10. The final one provided, Lifelong Learning Platform, was included only because digital and media literacy is one of their focus areas, and there are nine members from Italy, out of 42 total members. However, we were unable to find a specific initiative with an Italian focus. Most of the organization found focused on digital literacy alone, rather than digital media literacy. It appears to be an area that has much room to grow in Italy.
