Proteus is a California-based biotechnology company founded in 2001. The Proteus Discover is a bundle of digital-enabled solutions used for monitoring and treating different conditions, including cardiometabolic diseases. This is primarily accomplished using an ingestible sensor. Upon ingestion, the sensor transmits data to a mobile app, remote physicians, and also to an included wearable patch. From there, the data may be used to provide more effective monitoring, analytics, and treatment of diseases. This transparency and clarity of information about the patient also encourage increased medical adherence and more responsible patient behavior, ultimately leading to the slowdown of progression of any underlying disease.
WellDoc is a Maryland-based health and wellness company founded in 2005. Blue Star is a mobile app developed by WellDoc which provides a number of digital tools designed to help patients with diabetes monitor and manage their condition more easily and effectively. Through the app, patients are provided immediate remote access to the insights of qualified physicians and even an insulin bolus dose calculator. In addition to this, patients are provided with several online resources that help educate them about diabetes and more responsible and effective management. The claims regarding the Blue Star app are backed through clinical evidence published by over 30 studies documented by WellDoc from multiple credible sources.
