We sought to locate information on the individual by first searching through professional networking sites like LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, Bloomberg. The information provided on the mentioned sources were limited to her professional background and contact details; there was no information on her interests.

By searching through social media, we were able to locate a Facebook account belonging to her. We reviewed her publicly available information on Facebook and leveraged the information from her profile to provide a brief insight into her personal life. On searching through other social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter; she has no account in any other social media platforms aside Facebook, and we weren't able to provide a deeper dive into her personal life through this strategy.

We attempted to find further information about Jill Campbell by searching the alumni information at the university she attended. There was little information available publicly; login was required to access any information of a personal nature. Next, we combed through media sources for mentions and interviews on her. The goal was to locate interviews or events she attended and leverage the information from the media sites to provide a deep dive into her life. Unfortunately, this strategy also failed as there's was no interview on her and information about her were limited to her professional life.

It should be noted that we provided information on the vice president of communications and marketing at Colorado Rockies as the company doesn't have an individual with the title of chief marketing officer.

Research Strategy

We were able to find both teams' annual revenue and number of employees. Throughout our research, we didn't find any information about an agency of record for either team, which is why that information is not provided. To identify each team's annual revenue, we consulted the Forbes MLB Teams Valuation List and Statista (which published both teams' annual revenue for each year since 2001). To determine each team's number of employees, we first checked their Linkedin pages and provided the employee counts stated therein. Additionally, we looked for further breakdowns of those employee counts within different departments and personnel groups. We were able to find specific breakdowns for each team's front office staff and major league coaching staff. Since the total number of minor league players couldn't be accurately determined, we used the maximum number of roster spots allow for players (employees) that a major league team is allowed to have between its major and minor league levels combined.

Research Strategy

In order to find the agency of record for San Diego Padres, we searched for information on the company website; industry portals such as Ad Week, Ad Age, and The Drum; media sources such as Forbes and Business Wire. On Ad Week we found news of a company (Wrapify) that wrapped their cars with graphics for an OOH campaign. However, the information we found through these sources did not contain anything more relevant. Next, we looked for advertising case studies related to San Diego Padres as there was a possibility that we found a case study of a campaign executed by their agency on record, but we did not meet with much success using this strategy either. We only found non-advertising related case studies executed by companies such as Sportsdigita and Mitel. Following this, we looked for any advertisements on social media pages --Facebook, YouTube, Linkedin, and Twitter--of the company as companies post their advertisements on social media. The idea was to find ads or campaigns and then search for news articles related to the campaign that would also contain the name of the agency that executed it (and whether it was the agency of record). Most of the content we found on social media were videos related to their games and not advertisements. On YouTube, we found mention of a digital billboard ad placed by the company using the services of Neo Vision Group (not its agency on record either). Lastly, we searched Linkedin in the hope of finding San Diego Padres mentioned as an agency on record in the company description section. This Led us to Digitaria/ Mirum Agency; however, we found no evidence that Mirum Agency is the agency of record to San Diego Padres.

  • We did not find an exact number of employees for the Washington Nationals. Their LinkedIn company page lists 846 employees that have a LinkedIn account. We also found an older source that showed the team employed over 1,100 people in 2014.
  • As of 2018, VIVA Creative is the Agency of Record for the Washington Nationals.

Research Strategy

We found most of the requested information pre-compiled for the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals. Neither team published any recent information on their exact number of employees. We checked each team's website as well as reputable news sites such as CNN, Forbes, and the Washington Post to see if any recent employee numbers were published, but the search was fruitless. Instead, we used each team's LinkedIn company profile to provide an estimated number of employees.

To identify eight competitors of the Denver Broncos, we used the NFL's official site to first find the teams in the same division as the Denver Broncos. We discovered that there are three other teams in the AFC West, which are the Kansas City Chiefs, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Oakland Raiders. These were selected because the Denver Broncos play these teams twice each season. Then, we selected five other competitors in the AFC Conference, as all other teams in this conference are equal to each other in terms of how often they play the Denver Broncos.

Kansas City Chiefs' works with Signal Theory. Los Angeles Chargers' revenue in 2018 was $375million.

Kansas City Chiefs

  • Kansas City Chiefs' revenue in 2018 was $410 million.
  • Kansas City Chiefs has 251-500 employees.
  • Signal Theory -- name changed from Sullivan Higdon & Sink (SHS) in March 2019 --is an advertising agency that works for Kansas City Chief. Sullivan Higdon & Sink was appointed the "agency of record" for Kansas City Chiefs in 2012. It is likely that it is still the agency of record; however, we did not find any information to be certain that it still is.

Los Angeles Chargers

Research Strategy

We started out by searching for the agency on record on the websites of Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers; industry portals such as Ad Week and The Drum; media sources such as Fortune, PR News Wire, and Business Wire. We found from slightly dates sources (from 2017) that Kovert Creative works with the Los Angeles Chargers; however, we found no recent information news to the Kovert and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Next, we looked for advertising case studies related to the two teams as there was a possibility that we could find a case study of a campaign executed by their agency of record, but we did not meet with much success using this strategy either. We found that Saathci & Saatchi executed the "Fight for LA" campaign for the Los Angeles Chargers, but we did not find any mention of it being the agency of record. While it is not necessary that every company have an agency of record, when an agency executes an ad campaign that involves using multiple media vehicles (as is the case with the "Fight for LA" campaign), it is likely to be the primary agency (agency of record equivalent) or the agency of record (in case the company has one).

Our third strategy was to search for advertisements on the social media pages--Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Linkedin--of the organizations as firms usually post their advertising content on social media. The thought behind this strategy was to find ads or campaigns and then search for news articles related to the campaign that would also reveal the name of the agency that executed it (and whether it was the agency of record). The ad we found was created by Saatchi & Saatchi, but there was no mention of it being the agency of record.

We were able to find specific employee breakdowns for the Raiders’ front office staff, players, and coaches. For the Patriots, we were able to find specific employee breakdowns for the team’s players and coaches. The Patriots' front office list only names three top people, which is clearly not representative of all front office personnel considering the very large number of employees the Raiders' front office has.
