Cruzan Rum questions

On the attached spreadsheet, please find 100 cause festivals and conferences for Louisiana, Alabama, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, South Carolina, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Missouri. All festivals and conferences have an underlying cause or purpose that drives the event. Our methodology and limitations are below.

Methodology and Limitations

To identify cause, purpose, or social impact events in the 17 states listed above, we scoured event calendar websites such as Eventbrite and Eventful, local articles from reputable media companies, and event pages on charity and nonprofit websites. We excluded any events that appeared to be one-time-only occasions or that did not have an attached purpose, cause, or social impact. In most instances, we were able to provide a direct link to the event's web page; however, on occasion we had to default to the event listing page as no website for some festivals or conferences could be found.

Every attempt was made to identify at least five cause festivals, conferences, or events in each of the states mentioned above. Unfortunately, for some states like Ohio, there were fewer than five events that could be identified. In addition, in many states, lesser-known events had to be substituted as there was a lack of available "well-known" cause, purpose, or social impact events for 2018 and 2019.

Attendance numbers were not available for many of the events listed on the spreadsheet. This is particularly true for the lesser-known conferences or summits. We exhausted our efforts in finding attendance numbers by thoroughly examining the event's website, media mentions, festival listing sites, and social media pages. Unfortunately, many events do not publicize their attendance numbers. In some cases, we were able to find references to "thousands" or "tens of thousands" of attendees, but no hard numbers. These festivals have been noted on the spreadsheet in column E.

Likewise, not every event lists their sponsors on their websites, so we were unable to identify alcohol or spirit sponsors for all festivals. If we were unable to find any mention of sponsors at all, we entered "N/A" in column F. If we were able to find a list of sponsors, but there were no alcohol or spirit brands listed, we entered "None" in column F. When we were able to identify spirit or alcohol sponsors for a specific event, we entered those brand names in column F.

In a very few cases, we included events that have already passed in 2018, but because they are annual events and have been in existence for numerous years, we assumed they would occur again in 2019 during the same month. These events include Hogs for a Cause in Louisiana, Spring Scramble in Alabama, Polar Bear Plunge in Maryland, Project Bread's 5K Run and Walk for Hunger in Massachusetts, and Green Globes Annual Summit in North Carolina.

Conclusion

The attached spreadsheet contains 100 cause, purpose, or social impact festivals, conferences, summits, and other events for the 17 requested states. The web link, location, date, attendance (where available), sponsors (where available), and a description for each event has been provided.
