METHODOLOGY
During a deep dive into the most popular products sold in dermatologist offices in the U.S, I found very few pre-compiled lists. The reason is that dermatologists cater to a diverse clientele and treatments are often customized to individualized patients. I did find one list dated 2015, which listed the top ten medical skincare lines at Aesthetic Everything and an article listing top sellers at Wendy Lewis Co.
Having found this information I went to each of the mentioned companies to find their most popular products. Many had this information on their product page. For those sites where this information was missing, I looked to Skin Care Heaven's Best Sellers' page. If I did not find the product there, I went to Amazon and did a search on the company and chose the first product on the list sorted by relevance.
Now let's take a look at the findings of this research. I have organized my findings below where you will find each entry in the list headed by a bullet point for the name of the best selling product, then a summary of the brand line and brand/company status.
Please note: Apart from the first three entries in the list, Zerafite® Soothing and Calming Cream, SkinMedica 0.25% Retinol and EltaMD UV Physical Broad Spectrum SPF41, the list is not ranked.

The Zerafite skincare line provides hydration through MLE technology that includes ceramides, fatty acids, and cholesterol to strengthen and protect skin from irritants and help to retain moisture. Zerafite is a brand under the Worldceuticals umbrella. Worldceuticals is located in Miami, Florida.
SkinMedica create products that focus on signs of aging like age spots and wrinkles. Products contain rejuvenating properties such as vitamins E and C, retinol, tea tree oil, and salicylic acid. Created by dermatologist Dr. Richard Fitzpatrick, SkinMedica was acquired by Allergan, Inc. in 2012 (see next listing for more information on Allergan).
