Create a list of 10 exporters/ Growers of the following item that export into the US from around the world: Star Fruit / Carambola (it’s very important to locate an exporter / grower from Taiwan to begin with) The list needs to include the following data: 1. Name of the company 2. Physical address 3. Email address 4. Phone number Very important: The information must be for vegetables / fruits origins (countries) that are allowed to enter to the US by the USDA. Also – I am looking for ONLY for growers or shippers of these items, NOT importers or retail stores or distributes in the US who sells it.
Hello and thank you for your question regarding Star Fruit/ Carambola exporters based primarily out of Taiwan. The most useful sources I found were a Taiwanese trade website with listed vendors and a fruit based trade website. You can find a list of companies in this spreadsheet here.
METHODOLOGY
I searched for exporters of star fruit, based out of Taiwan. I then made sure that the listings exports to the United States to inform this list. In some cases, they simply state North America. After exhausting a list of Taiwanese importers, I turned to find company specific exporters of starfruit to inform the last three suppliers on the list. This includes two Malaysian and one Kuwait based company.

As recently as 2013, the USA market opened up imports of Pineapple, Jackfruit, and Star Fruit from Malaysia. Other SE Asia countries are also seeking to situate themselves as a new exporter, including Indonesia and the Philippines. Although current conditions, sanitation, and centralized infrastructure from farm to market has dampened efforts.
