Create a list of 10 exporters/ Growers of the following item that export into the US from around the world: Japanese eggplant
Hello! Thanks for your question about 10 exporters/growers of the Japanese eggplant to the United States. The short version is that after searching extensively through various supplier listings, research reports and websites on specific exporters of Japanese eggplants, there is very limited information available publicly because of low consumption or rare number of growers for this type of eggplants. BACKGROUND
This USDA report gives a breakdown of the top exporters of eggplant to US, their contribution percentage to the total eggplant US import, and the import quantity in metric tonnes. US is the second top exporter of eggplants in the world, constituting about 17.3% of the global eggplant export quantity in 2015. 95.4% of the world's eggplant exports is produced only by 20 countries. Mexico (78.2%) and Honduras (8.3%) are the top two exporters for generic eggplants. There are many varieties of eggplants being imported into US based on colour (e.g., purplish black, red, white, and variegated) and shape (e.g., egg-shaped, elongated, and round). The long and slender Asian varieties (Specialty Vegetables) are less commonly produced than the others. Chinese eggplants are light purple coloured long ones, while the Japanese eggplants are dark purple coloured 5-15 cm long and 3-6 cm in diameter.
