Average Cost Per Hour to Clients - Management

The average costs per hour to clients for the Dallas Fort Worth area are as follows: between $19.98 and $42.24 for a junior account manager, around $69.38 for a senior account manager, between $75 and $350 for public relations, between $62 and $92 for content management, and between $40 and $80 for project management. All the average cost per hour rate to clients have been compiled in the attached document.

METHODOLOGY

The roles of account manager, public relations manager, content manager and project manager are roles that are usually within a company or an agency and not freelance or stand-alone roles. This means that we had to use different approaches to triangulate the client pricing for each role. We approached this from a perspective of the client and looked into how much the particular job holder (e.g. account manager) would charge the client per hour. For this, we first looked into how much freelancer charge compared to the hourly rates that are standard within a company. It is common for freelancers to charge at least twice as much as an hourly rate for the same role in a company in their area would be. We took this as our first assumption when establishing an average rate, and will therefore multiply all hourly rates we find that are stated for usual company employees by two in order to get a more realistic picture of how much a client could be charged. Below we explain the method for triangulating the cost per hour for each role. All the average cost per hour rate to clients have been compiled in the attached document.

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

A junior account manager makes between $9.99 and $21.27 per hour in Dallas, Texas. In line with our first assumption, we multiply this range by two to get a freelancer (or a standalone) rate: Hourly rate for junior account manager is between $19.98 and $42.24.

A senior account manager earns an average of $34.62 in Dallas, Texas. In order with our first assumption, we multiply this range by two to get a freelancer (or a standalone) rate: Hourly rate for senior account manager is $69.38.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Public relations managers work in agencies, which charge differently depending on the project. The hourly rate will depend on the staff which is assigned to the project and their experience and expertise. Usually the agency rates vary from $75/hour to $325/hour. We looked at four different PR agencies in the Dallax Forth Worth area in Texas, and none of them quote their prices publicly.

Therefore, to get a better estimate, an inquiry to the specific agency would have to be made. Another source specific that asking for a price from a PR agency can also be made in a way where the client asks how many services the agency can offer based on the budget they have available: "Ask for an a la carte menu of costs for such services as press releases, videos, white papers and social media campaigns. You also will want to find out if the agency offers a pay-per-performance model, which allows you pay a lower upfront retainer with payment bonuses linked to results. This approach ensures that the PR firm is sharing the risks with you."

CONTENT MANAGEMENT

We looked for content management positions in Dallas on both Payscale and Salaryexpert, but there were none currently advertised that would provide an insight into average hourly pay for the Dallas areas. As we were unable to find a direct quote for an hourly rate for a content manager in the Dallas Fort Worth area, we found two different rates for the Texas area. Therefore, we used the overall Texas rate for this role.

The first is a content manager for web which has an hourly rate of $46. The second is a content manager in Houston, Texas where the rate is $31. If we double both rates based on our first assumption to get freelancer (or standalone) rates, we get the following range: Hourly rate for a content manager is between $62 and $92.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Guidelines for a project manager say that they can charge an hourly rate for projects. This rate should be based "on the scope, time line and complexity of the project". The manager should "research competitive rates and use experience to determine their hourly rate. This rate may be similar to what an in-house project manager is paid".
As the guidelines say freelancers could charge the same rate as in-house project managers, we determine our range for project managers based on the in-house hourly fee which for Texas amounts to $40. Same as with the content manager role, for this we also checked both Payscale and Salaryexpert and were unable to find direct quotes for the Dallas area which is why we are using the overall Texas rates.

To get a more precise range of prices, we still double the amount according to our first assumption to get the freelancer rate as we did with other roles. This makes the estimated range for this role be between $40 and $80.

CONCLUSION

The average cost per hour to clients for the Dallas Fort Worth area when it comes to account management is between $19.98 and $42.24 for a junior manager and around $69.38 for a senior manager. All the average cost per hour rate to clients have been compiled in the attached document.

Average Cost Per Hour to Clients - Video and Print

According to Salary Expert estimates, the average hourly rate for copywriters, video producers, video editors, proofreaders/editors and print production managers/coordinators in Dallas Fort Worth area are $29, $44, $34, $19 and $28 per hour respectively. I have presented the information on the attached Google document as requested.

Below you will find a deep dive of my methodology and findings.

METHODOLOGY AND FINDINGS

To answer your request, I examined various online job search portals and marketplaces such as Indeed, Glassdoor, Payscale, and salary expert. Unfortunately, these portals did not provide comprehensive information, especially regarding hourly rates, except Salary Expert, which seemed to have figures specific for Dallas Fort Worth area. Most of the portals provided salary rates in terms of figures and not hourly rates, and did not provide rigorous metrics one can use to determine the corresponding hourly rate. In this regard, I went ahead and compared the figures from Salary Expert against those from the other job search portals i.e., Indeed, Payscale and Glassdoor where they fell within a comparable range.

COPYWRITER

According to Indeed, the average hourly rate for copywriters in Dallas, TX is $28.96 and ranges from $10.20-$57.10 based on 365 reporting individuals. Payscale estimates the average hourly rate for copywriters in Dallas, TX to be $23 and ranges from $10.07- $89.40 per hour based on 10 reporting individuals. On the other hand, Salary Expert estimates the salary for a copywriter in Fort Worth, Texas to be $29, however, did not provide the number of surveyed salaries or salary range. Therefore, based on the estimates provided, Indeed and Salary Expert seem to have more corresponding figures than Payscale. Therefore, we can conclude that according to Salary Expert, the average hourly rate for copywriters in Fort Worth, Texas is $29.

VIDEO PRODUCER

Payscale did not have estimates for hourly rates for video producers in Dallas, TX. Instead, they provided estimates for the average annual salaries in figures. Indeed did not have that title and thus, provided no data regarding video producer’s hourly salaries. Only Salary Expert estimated the hourly rate for video producers in the Dallas Fort Worth area to be $44 per hour. While no other portal presented hourly rates for this region, we can use that from Salary Expert as the average for this area.

VIDEO EDITOR

Payscale estimates the average hourly rate for video editors in Dallas, TX to be $15.75 within a range of $10.21-$37.79 per hour based on 20 salaries submitted. Indeed estimates the hourly rate to be $30.92 within a range of $10.50-$61.85 per hour based on 67 salaries submitted. On the other hand, Salary Expert estimates that the average hourly rate for video editors in Fort Worth, Texas to be $34 per hour. Judging from the averages provided, Pascale’s estimate differs largely when compared to the other two. Therefore, we can estimate the average hourly rate for video editors in the Dallas Fort Worth area to be $34 per hour.

PROOFREADERS

Online job search portals use different names such as proofreaders, copy editors, editors, and so onto refer to proofreading. Indeed estimates the average hourly rate for proofreaders in Dallas, TX to be $23.86 per hour within a range of $10.25-$43 per hour based on 48 salaries submitted. Salary Expert, on the other hand, estimates the proofreader’s salary in the Dallas Fort Worth area to be $19 per hour. As this rate is specific to the Dallas Fort Worth area, we can use it as the average rate.

PRINT PRODUCTION COORDINATOR

After several attempts and using different keywords related to print production, both Indeed and Payscale provided no such job title or salary. On the other hand, Salary Expert used the term Print Production Coordinator to refer to this job. They estimate that the average hourly rate for print production coordinators in Dallas Fort Worth area to be $28 per hour. At the bottom of each salary web page by Salary Expert, they note that the data provided is a sample of data available in their global salary calculator.

You can access the Google document with the information here.

CONCLUSION

To wrap it up, Salary Expert estimates the average hourly rate for copywriters, video producers, video editors, proofreaders/editors and print production managers/coordinators in the Dallas Fort Worth area to be $29, $44, $34, $19 and $28 per hour respectively.
