Corona Thriving Businesses, Part 1

Though we weren't able to find communications or PR contacts at any of the companies listed in Rows 3-23 of the spreadsheet, we were able to find marketing contacts at Raw Juce, Jus By Julie, Juice from the Raw, Project Juice, and Organifi (and thus the companies we couldn't find any such contacts for were BluePrint and Bamboo Juices). All the information we were able to find about BluePrint, Raw Juce, Jus by Julie, Bamboo Juices, Juice from the Raw, Project Juice, and Organifi is included in the attached spreadsheet. Below is a brief overview of our findings, followed by an explanation of our Research Strategy in terms of how and where we looked for information.

Company Contacts

  • Ashley Shaw is a Marketing Specialist at Raw Juce.
  • Rachel Joyce is the Marketing Communications Manager at Jus by Julie.
  • Marcy Tbiele is the Head of Marketing at Jus by Julie. We were unable to find a Linkedin for her, so she might not have one.
  • Margalit Galili is the Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at Juice from the Raw.
  • Marra St. Clair is the Head of Marketing at Project Juice.
  • J Michael Bonner is the Marketing Manager at Project Juice.
  • Amy Jo Beaver is the Chief Marketing Officer at Organifi.
  • Lindsey Morando is the Director of Marketing at Organifi.

Research Strategy

We looked for, but were unable to find, any communications, PR, or marketing contacts at BluePrint and Bamboo Juices. For the other companies, we first looked for communications or PR contacts, but we didn't find any such individuals. Thus, we expanded our research to include marketing contacts for which we were able to find one or more for the companies except for Bamboo Juices and BluePrint. We provided the individuals with the most seniority that we found. For the individuals we listed, we had to use email-format finders (Hunter and Rocket Reach) to find their emails, except for Margalit Galili of Juice from the Raw who provided her email on her Linkedin. For everyone except Margalit, we used the likely email format provided by the format-finder tools (e.g. firstname@company.com) and inserted each individual's information (name and company) accordingly. In the spreadsheet, we noted which individuals we used an email-format finder for.

For the information that we ultimately weren't able to find, we looked for such by using three research approaches. First, we reviewed each company's website. Second, we checked each company's Linkedin, including the employees section. Third, we conducted a press scan to see if any articles or company biographies provided the information we were looking for. The information that we provided in the spreadsheet is the sum of all we found for the companies.

The email addresses of the companies and persons holding a marketing or PR related position in the companies listed on rows 24-44 has been presented in the attached spreadsheet.

Selected Findings

Research Strategy

For Creative Juices and Liquiteria, the information on persons holding a marketing position or PR related position is not readily available. For Liquiteria, the company does not have a website and findings indicate that the company may have shut down. We searched through business databases and professional networking sites like LinkedIn, Crunchbase, ZoomInfo for information on the company. On LinkedIn, there was no individual currently working at the Liquiteria and Creative Juices and several people profiled on the site previously held a position at Liquiteria but no relevant information on the companies current team. Also, we leveraged email harvesting tools like Hunter.io, Apollo, Rocketreach, among others. The idea was to locate individuals working at the company as the sites mentioned above typically provide such information. Unfortunately, the companies were not profiled in any of the databases. We also carried out a media search on the companies' leadership team, and there was no information on the companies relevant to our research and the companies have limited visibility on media sites. For Creative Juices, the company is not profiled in any business database, networking sites, email harvesting tools, media sites and an assumption was made that Liquiteria has ceased operations.

The email addresses of the companies and persons holding a marketing or PR related position in the companies listed on rows 45-65 have been presented in the attached spreadsheet.

Research Strategy

To provide the PR or communications contact details for each of the assigned companies, the team started by reviewing each companies official website for their PR or communication leaders. We were able to find the leaders for some companies except for Magic Mix Juicery, Blossom Du Jour, and The Juice Shop. We then searched through business databases and professional networking sites like LinkedIn, Crunchbase, ZoomInfo for information relating to those three companies. Unfortunately, we could not find any public relations or communications leaders. The team has gone ahead to provide general contact details for these companies. For email data, we utilized hunter.io and other email finder databases.

Research strategy

We looked, but were unable to identify any communications, PR, or marketing contacts at Forage Kombucha and Kosmic Kombucha. For the other companies, we first looked for communications or PR contacts on business databases and professional networking sites, such as LinkedIn, Crunchbase, and ZoomInfo, but we didn't find any such individuals. Thus, we expanded our research to include marketing contacts. For Wild Kombucha, we were only able to identify one person that fits the research criteria. For these three companies, we also scoured through recent news reports and articles on each company to identify any communications, PR, or marketing contacts. However, this strategy was also unsuccessful. In the attached spreadsheet, we have entered N/A in the appropriate cells for these companies. Humm Kombucha does not have a general email. The company requires people to fill an inquiry form to contact them. The company makes use of four social platforms, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram, for general information. The links to these social media accounts are available on its homepage.

A large number of the general company emails and business emails for the public relations/communications divisions of the target companies were located in the public domain and provided in rows 87-107, columns B-J of the attached spreadsheet. For Sun Basket, the company's general company email is help@sunbasket.com while for Sakara Life, the general company email is help@sakaralife.com. A summary of our findings follows below.

Summary of Research Findings

  • Most of the general company emails and business emails for the communications and PR departments of the target organic/healthy food and beverage companies were available in the public domain.
  • In regard to general company email addresses, the organizations that have not provided their emails such as Trader Joe's Organic Kombucha have provided contact forms on their websites that can be used to initiate contact with the company.
  • The LinkedIn and business email addresses of all the contacts in the communications/PR departments of the target companies have been provided in the attached spreadsheet.
  • The general company emails of Holy Kombucha, Joe and the Juice, Hungryroot, Urban Remedy, Sun Basket, and Sakara Life are hello@holykombucha.com, info@joejuice.com, partnerships@hungryroot.com, connect@urbanremedy.com, help@sunbasket.com, and help@sakaralife.com respectively.

Ashley Hocking heads the marketing department of Purple Carrot. The contact information for the employees of the companies listed in rows 108-128 has been presented in the attached spreadsheet.

  • Tessa Vale is the marketing and communications manager at Food Matters; she can be contacted through her official email, which can be found here.
  • Liz Mazzei is the director of marketing at Provenance Meals, and her official email address can be found here.

Research Strategy

We were unable to provide any media, PR, communications, or marketing-related contacts for Portable Chef and Eat Sunny, mainly because these companies do not provide any information about their executives on their websites. They also do not have any official pages on Linkedin. Since no information was generally available about these companies, we used Rocket Reach, Appolo, and Hunter to grab any relevant contacts of employees (media, PR, communications, or marketing-related positions) working in these companies, but we found no mentions about these companies on any of these email harvesting portals. We also searched for any press releases from the company to get information about the person who is responsible for press and media relations at these companies. For this, we combed through PR portals like PR Newswire and Businesswire to find any relevant press releases from the companies, but we found no press releases or mentions about these companies. The official websites of these companies also do not offer any news communications or press releases. We have also utilized official websites of some of the identified employees to get their email addresses.

Eat Sunny's CEO, Tatiana, communicates about the company from her official Facebook page. Since there was no information about the other employees of the company or people who tackle PR and communications, we have included information about Tatiana. For Green Chef and The Cullinistas, we were only able to identify one person for each of these companies. Kim Philips manages media inquiries at Green Chef; her office email has been provided on the official website for media inquiries. We have also verified the email and job position on portals like Appolo and Rocket Reach. In order to get more relevant people for these companies, who are working or heading PR and communications or the marketing department, we also looked through their employee profiles on Linkedin, but no employees were found. We also searched through their Zoominfo profile. We were hoping to find relevant mentions of the executives heading their PR and communications department, but no relevant mentions were found; instead, the list provided information about their CEO and CTO. In the attached spreadsheet, we have entered N/A for these companies.

While two people were listed for some companies, others have only one listed. For the latter reason, these companies have less than five employees listed on their LinkedIn profile and many of them have their founders or co-founders likely functioning in the communications and marketing departments. More information is available in the spreadsheet attached.

22 Days Nutrition

  • The website and the general company email of 22 Days Nutrition are available here.
  • Yenney Curbelo and Joseph Ceglio are the project manager and social media manager at 22 Days Nutrition, respectively.
  • While both staffers engage in some form of marketing for the company, Yenney's responsibilities include overseeing email marketing campaigns, manage campaigns, and manage communications.

Organic Krush

  • James Tchinnis is a partner at Organic Krush, with skills and endorsements in marketing strategy and social media marketing.

Care/of

  • The website and the general company social handles of Care/of are available here.
  • Emily Nicol and S. Wadhwani are the brand director and the director of business development at Care/of, respectively.
  • While Emily's email is not available in the public domain, Wadhwani's business email is available on Rocket Reach.

Vitafive

  • The website and the general company email of Vitafive are available here.
  • Nik Hall is the co-founder at Vitafive. His skills and endorsements include entrepreneurship and marketing.

Research Strategy

We started our findings on the seven companies by exploring their websites, social media platforms, and other third-party websites such as Rocket Reach, Zoominfo, and Aeroleads. For 22 Nutrition, we found six of its staff on the LinkedIn page of the company. Yenney's business email is behind a paywall, while that of Joseph is unavailable after going through his employee profile account and social media account. For Factor 75, James' business email is behind a paywall, and we found possible professional emails. Although he has a professional website, the page was inactive. Also, Charlie's business email is not available after going through his employee profile account and social media account.

Organic Krush does not have a general email, but makes use of three social platforms, Facebook, Yelp, and Instagram, for general information. The links to these social media accounts are available on its homepage. After going through the website and LinkedIn profile of the company, we couldn't find any person with the designated roles requested in the research criteria. We believe that the title designations of staff may not truly reflect their roles and responsibilities in the company. For instance, James is a partner at the company, but he has skills and endorsements in marketing strategy and social media marketing. However, his business email is not available in the public domain.

Care/of does not have a general email, but makes use of three social platforms, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, for general information. The links to these social media accounts are available on its homepage. Care/of has 139 employees on LinkedIn, and just as we did for every company listed for this research, we covered the designated titles and responsibilities of all employees. If no designation states PR or communications or marketing, we narrow our findings to titles (such as brand director, director of business development, social media manager, project manager, and so on) that ought to function in any of these three departments. We aimed for director, SVP, VP, and managerial level positions. While some business emails of our findings are not available in public domains, others are behind paywalls. However, we used assigned free credits on Rocket Reach to show a few of the business emails.

Ritual does not have a general email, but it emphasizes its Instagram handle to connect with customers and visitors. At Paragon Vitamins, there were only four employees listed on LinkedIn. With their different statuses on LinkedIn, it appears the co-founders of this company function in the marketing department. Vitafive has only three employees on LinkedIn and only one co-founder appears inclined toward marketing. We relied on a January 2018 source to get the email of Nick Hall. This became necessary because the other source is behind a paywall.

Selected Findings

Research Strategy

After searching through the company's website, LinkedIn page, business databases, and email harvesting sites, we established that Rootine Vitamins does not have an in-house PR and marketing team. As such, we have provided the contact details for the most senior level people at Rootine Vitamins. Similarly, for Klean Athlete, we found that only one person holds a PR or marketing-related position in the company. The contact details of the most senior level people have also been provided for the company.

Research Strategy

In answering this research, we began by gathering information from the official websites and LinkedIn profiles of each company. However, for Yummy Bears Organics and First Day, this strategy proved ineffective. The names of their PR/Communications top employees were unavailable. The employees found had job titles that had no relation at all to the information requested. In the case of First Day, we found only the contacts of both its co-founders with no record of other employees. A further check of their Owler profiles showed that there was no available information on the company. This led us to search recent news reports and articles on each company. This strategy did not turn in the desired results as the employees found no longer worked in the said company.
For OLLY, Garden of Life, Standard Process, Metagenics, and Thorne Research, we replaced PR/Communications with Marketing and Customer Experience roles where the required information was unavailable.

Selected Findings

Research Strategy

To carry out this research, the research team started by reviewing the companies' website and the Linkedin profiles for the respective companies. Information regarding the public relations and communications staff was not readily available. However, we provided information on marketing staff and senior staff occupying senior-level positions like managers. This search method proved abortive for the Sambucol brand. We thought to search other databases like other sites like Zoominfo, and Crunchbase, also industry articles and publications for the company profile. This search method proved abortive as well. During our in-depth search, we discovered that the Sambucol brand is part of PharmaCare US. Details regarding the profile of public relations/communications staff, specific to Sambucol was unavailable.
Church and Dwight CO is the owner of Vitafusion and L'il Critters Organic. After an in-depth review of the Church and Dwight company's website, we were able to locate the brand manager and director of marketing for the vitamin and supplement segment of the company. The research team was able to locate one brand manager and a marketing director specific to L'il Critter Organic. We then search through industry reports and publications; profile databases like Zoominfo and Linkedin were searched as well. This search method proved abortive.
The research team was able to locate the communication's manager for Pure Encapsulations. We thoroughly searched the company's profile for the email contact of Dana Dwyer; we also used email hunters like Hunter.io. This search method proved abortive.
