Your Research Team Applied The Following Strategy

Firstly, we tried looking for market size and growth of the medical body fluid containers market from various credible market reports such as Global data, Mordar intelligence, market watch and could locate most of the information on other markets such as specimen sample collection containers, medical disposable containers and other but not specific to overall medical body fluid containers market.

Secondly, we took a different approach and tried to garner information on common body fluids which are meant to be stored or tested or disposed of and could locate that common body fluids include blood, saliva, semen, vaginal fluids, mucus, and urine. Based on this information tried to identify market size and growth of each fluid to compile and present the market size and growth of the medical body fluid containers across medical market reports such as IBISworlds, technavio, transparencymarketresearch, psmarketresearch, alliedmarketresearch and others and could locate few insights specific to blood bags and urine drainage containers but not specific to other fluids to do summation and derive further.

Thirdly, we tried to locate key players in manufacturing of body fluid containers with a motto capturing insights on market share in North America or the United States quoted in their publication to further triangulate the figures to market size and growth rate in websites of Cardinal Health Inc., Coloplast Group, ConvaTec Group Plc, McKesson Corp., Medline Industries Inc., Teleflex Incorporated, and most of the Key players did not quote any segmentation on their market share specific to medical body fluid containers as most of them are involved in manufacturing of overall medical supplies to derive further.

Finally, it expanded the scope of research to global market size and growth of the medical body fluid containers with the motto of calculating market size and growth rate based on the percentage share of market contribution but could not locate any relevant global reports. Even further tried looking for older reports beyond standard wonder timeline of 24 months with a motto of deriving the current market share and growth rate by extrapolating the past figures and growth trends across various medical device journals, third party press releases, medical device business reports such as ASME Digital Collection, landline, science direct, comics online etc. but was not successful.

Percentage of the Market and Production Volume - Medical Body Fluid Containers

While we were unable to find the North American market share of plastic closures or metal closures for medical body fluids, nor determine the volume of metal or plastic closures in the North American body fluid containers market, we did locate the following helpful insights.

Helpful Insights

  • North America holds 23% of the plastic closures market in 2018.
  • The global market size of plastic closures is $41.17 billion in 2018.
  • The global plastic caps and closures market is expected to grow at an average rate of 3.9% over the next 5 years.
  • The total number of plastic closure units globally produced in 2017 was 1197.26 billion. The projected average growth rate of plastic closure unit production is 4.42%. Hence, the number of plastic closure units produced in 2018 is 1250.18 billion ([1197.26 billion*.0042]+1197.26 billion=1250.18 billion). The projected number of plastic closure units to be produced by the end of 2019 is 1305.34 billion ([1250.18 billion*.0042]+1250.18 billion=1305.34 billion).
  • The global market for metal caps and closures in 2018 was $25.81 billion.
  • North American has the largest market share for metal closures.
  • In 2017, Venous Blood Collection Tubes have the largest market share of all blood collection tubes. North America had a 28.4% production market of these tubes in 2017. The total market size of blood collection tubes in 2019 was $3.30 million.
  • The global healthcare packaging market, which includes caps and closures, syringes, and IV bags, was $1.7 billion in 2017 and projected to grow to $160.9 billion by 2023.
  • North America has the highest share of the medical specimen containers (e.g., urine collection) in the world.

Research Strategy

The research team first searched through industry reports and press releases to locate sources that reported the North American plastic closure and metal closure markets for medical body fluid containers. We could not locate this information because a variety of marketing reports were behind pay walls, see here, here, and here.

We next searched for the North American plastic and metal closures market size in general--for all possible segments of this market--as well as the global market size of plastic and metal closures for medical body fluid containers. Our hypothesis was we could triangulate the North American market sizes for metal and plastic closures used for medical containers from these two data points. However, again, we faced a pay wall for reports.

We then tried to search the market size--either global or North American--of different types of medical body fluid markets. We located marketing reports on blood collection tubing and medical specimen containers. However, both were behind pay walls.

Our team then sampled the annual reports of some of the largest companies producing plastic closures, such as Bericap, Aptar, Closure Systems International, Crown Holdings, O.Berk Company, and Reynolds Packaging Group, LTD. Our hypothesis was that we might be able to find within these reports the North American market size for the body fluid containers market. However, we could not find consistent numbers, and the reports, when they reported this information, focused on the individual company. As such, we could not reasonably extrapolate the overall size of plastic/metal caps and closures for the body fluids containers market size for North America.

The team next searched for the average retail price point of a variety of body fluid containers in order to find some helpful information about the end market size volume in North America. In searching for the average retail price point, we quickly realized that the sheer variety of different types of containers that would use plastic or metal caps/closures would make it extremely time-consuming to calculate any useful insights into the volume.

We did locate the North American market share of the Venous Blood Collection tubing. However, when we tried to average the retail price of this product, we once again encountered the problem of multiple varieties of this kind of tubing.

Market Size and Growth - Consumer Lawns Containers

The U.S. lawn, garden, and agricultural packaging market is estimated to worth about $2 billion in 2018 from $1.7 billion in 2013 at a CAGR of 3.7%.

U.S. Market Analysis

  • The U.S. lawn, garden, and agricultural packaging market includes the packaging of "fertilizer, pesticides, seed, growing media, and mulch" using "bags and sacks, plastic containers, bulk packaging, pouches, and labels" for either agricultural, consumer, or professional uses.
  • Freedonia Group predicted that this market would worth $1.7 billion in 2013.
  • Furthermore, a market report by PRNewswire revealed that the demand for packaged lawn and garden consumables in the US was projected to hit $9.5 billion in 2018, rising at a CAGR of 3.7%.
  • In 2013, the U.S. lawn, garden, and agricultural packaging market had a 21.5% share of the general packaged lawn and garden consumables market. (see calculation below).
  • Therefore, the lawn, garden, and agricultural packaging market in the U.S. is estimated to worth about $2 billion in 2018 (calculations below).

Research Strategy

To determine the size and growth of the U.S. consumer lawns containers market, your research team scoured through industry and market analysis reports. We also search through media reports, articles, blogs, and expert publications. While there was no report specific to the consumer lawns container market in public domains, we have utilized the available data from historical to expert projections of the market to estimate the 2018 size of the lawn, garden, and agricultural packaging market.

Triangulation

If the demand for packaged lawn and garden consumables in the US grew at a CAGR of 3.7% to hit $9.5 billion in 2018, using an online CAGR calculator from 2013 to 2018, the initial value (2013) is $7.9 billion (i.e 2013-2018).

If the size of the lawn, garden, and agricultural packaging market was $1.7 billion in 2013, and the size of the packaged lawn and garden consumables was worth $7.9 billion in 2013, this implies that the packaging segment had a 21.5% (i.e [1.7 billion/7.9 billion]*100) share of the total packaged lawn and garden consumables market in the U.S.

Assuming trends in the U.S. packaged lawn and garden consumables market remain unchanged, this means that the size of the lawn, garden, and agricultural packaging market in 2018 is estimated to be $2 billion (i.e $9.5 billion*21.5%).

Research Strategy

We were unable to find readily available sources in which a direct answer to the question was provided, except for a few pay-walled sources which could not serve the purpose. Thus, information in this research has been triangulated and calculated using multiple steps (see calculations below).

Challenges

During the research, there was a dearth of readily available information that can be attributed to the niche market segmentation being referred to. The information in the dependent research could not be accurately used for triangulation here since the market size and growth derived there pertained to the overall lawn, garden, and agricultural packaging market. This market also included the commercial agriculture market, which constitutes a large portion of the share. This is in contrast to the consumer lawns container market asked for in this research, which only includes containers used for home lawn purposes. More so, the overall packaging industry in the previous research even includes materials like bags and sacks, paper material, drums, and others, which needed to be taken into account while calculating the market for plastic and metal caps and closures only.

Methodology and Approach

Due to multiple challenges and scarcity of information, the figures presented in the research were calculated and some fair assumptions were made. The initial research focused primarily on defining the segment for plastic and metals caps for containers, then moving on to the lawn containers market in the U.S.

We deduced the market share percentage by first identifying the global market size for caps and closures, followed by the U.S. split of this market. A recalculation of the U.S. market size was undertaken based on the year-over-year (YoY) growth to attain a figure for 2018 before applying the percentage share split for the home garden and lawn segment. Since the lawn container split was not available in the public domain, we considered looking into the top players in the U.S. caps manufacturing market. The company presentation of Silgan led us to the home garden and lawn rigid container market split among other categories, enabling us to fairly assume and extrapolate this to the U.S.

The market share (in %) by volume was deduced directly from U.S. and global figures, however, with a fair assumption that the ratio of the "Caps & Closures market used on lawn containers" vs. the total "Caps & Closures market used for all purposes" would be the same in the U.S. as well as globally. We have done a cross-check during the % market calculation below, which led us to confirm that the calculations are fairly accurate against the assumptions thus made.

Calculations for % Market

The global market (by revenue) for plastic caps and closures stood at US$ 37 billion in 2018. The plastic caps and closures market is nearly 74% (the average of 73% and 75%) in share while the metal caps market shares 24.5% from the global pie. The remaining share belongs to the rubber and cork caps segment.

Revenue global caps and closures (metal + plastic) market = (($37 billion x 100)/74) = US$ 50 billion [A]
2018 Market share caps and closures market in North America = 23% = 0.23 x US$ 50 billion = $11.5 billion. [B]

To cross-check the above, we reverse calculated the market share using the 4.2% YoY growth in the caps and closures market size by using the projected revenue of $11.8 billion in 2020. Reverse calculating we got the revenue figures for 2018:
Revenue 2019 = ($11.8 billion - (4.2/100*$11.8 billion)) = $11.3 billion
Revenue 2018 = ($11.3 billion - (4.2/100*$11.3 billion)) = $10.83 billion [C]

Thus, we see that figures [B] and [C] ($11.5 billion vs $10.83 billion) are similar for 2018 (considering that [B] pertains to North America which consists of the USA, Canada, and Mexico, [B] is a bit higher than [C]). Thus, the calculations match with industry research figures and therefore the revenue of $10.83 billion can be considered as the U.S. market figures for plastic and metal caps and closures market in 2018.

The total share of the U.S. caps and closures market within the global pie is equal to the U.S. revenue divided by the global revenue.
U.S. share of caps and closures market = ($10.83 billion/$50 billion)*100% = 21.66% [D].

Assuming that the ratio of the caps & closures market used on lawn containers vs. the total caps & closures market used for all purposes remains the same in the U.S. and globally, we can confidently consider 21.66% as the percentage share of the U.S. plastic/metal caps and closures market against the global market in 2018.

The home care, lawn & garden segment constitutes 10% of the share among all rigid containers (which automatically rules out rubber bags, sacks etc.), implying that these rigid containers used for storage purpose would use caps, hence allowing us to also safely consider 10% as the caps and closures split for consumer lawn containers among all other categories like personal care & beauty, healthcare, beverage, foods, and others. Applying the 10% to the 2018 U.S. revenue, we thus have the actual market size of metal/plastic caps for the consumer lawn containers market.
Market size consumer lawn containers 2018 = 0.1 x $10.8 billion = $1.1 billion

Calculation for % Volume

The global caps and closures market by volume was 2,040 billion units in 2017. The 2018 U.S. market for caps and closures was 305 billion units. Considering the YoY rate of the U.S. caps and closures market to be at 4.2%, we can deduce the U.S. 2017 volume.
2017 U.S. volume = (305 billion - (0.042*305 billion)) = 292 billion units

Assuming that the ratio of "Caps & Closures market used on lawn containers" vs. the total "Caps & Closures market used for all purposes" remains the same in the U.S. and globally, we can deduce the volume share in percentages.
Percentage volume share = (292 billion/2,040 billion) x 100% = 14.31%

We can extrapolate and deduce the count of caps and closures particular to the consumer lawn container in the U.S. from two sources. Thus, we have a 10% (split of lawn and garden containers among all categories) of 305 billion units as 30.5 billion.

Market Size and Growth - Paint Containers

The calculated market size of the paint containers market was $5.46 billion in 2019. The calculated growth of the US paint containers market is 5%.

Paint Containers Market Size and Growth

  • The 2018 global paint packaging market size was $21.2 billion globally according to research by Grand view research.
  • In 2017, the market size of paint packaging worldwide was reported by Veracious statistics research to be $34.27 billion at a CAGR of 5.02%.
  • The global paints and coatings market size was $178.9 billion at a CAGR of 4.54% in 2018 according to a research report by Reuters.
  • According to Statista, the market size of paint and coatings globally was $152.6 billion in 2017.
  • IBIS World reported the revenue of the US painting industry to be $32 billion at a CAGR of 1.7% in 2019

Research Strategy

We started the research by looking at market reports which included Market Research, Mintel and IBIS World, since these could have provided information on the market size and growth of the paint containers. It was only information on the global paint packaging that was available. We then searched media and business news articles related to the paint industry, since some of their publications could have been centred on paint containers and paint industry as a whole. We searched Prnewswire, Forbes, Financial times. These sources only provided information on the paints and coatings market size.
Our third strategy was to search the website of the American Coating Association, since it could have contained information on the global and US analysis of the paint industry market. However, it was only information on the association and its activities that were available.

We expanded our search by looking at US government websites for industries, since the present state and growth of the paint industry segments could have been provided. We searched US bureau of industry and security and bureau of economic analysis websites, but it was only information related to the export of paint that was available. Afterwards, we had to get creative and triangulated the market size and growth of paint containers. We assumed that the quantity of paint produced is likely to be proportional to the quantity of the containers that would be used to package it. We also considered the paint packaging to be the containers used to keep the paint after its production. We then calculated the share of the US out of the global paints and coating industry market size. This percentage share attributed to the US was used to determine the US market size and growth out of the global paint containers market. The detail of the calculations done is below:

Calculations

Share of the US painting industry out of the global market

Share of the US painting industry out of the global painting industry= Market size of US painting industry/(Average of the global market sizes of painting industries gotten) x 100
Market size of US painting industry= $32 billion
Average of the global market sizes of painting industries gotten= ($178.9 billion + $152.6 billion)/2= $335.1 billion/2 = $167.55 billion.
Therefore, share of the US painting industry out of the global painting industry= $32 billion/$167.55 billion x 100= 19.1%

Market size of US Paint Containers Market in 2017 and 2018

Market size of US paint packaging market size= Share of US painting industry x global paint packaging market size for that year.
However, since the market size research were not conducted by the same institution, the average of the market sizes gotten from both studies was used for each year.

Using the CAGR of 5.02% of the global paint packaging market, the market size for the Grand view research in 2017 is calculated using reverse CAGR formula i.e. the latest revenue - (CAGR x the latest revenue)
=$21.2 billion - (5.02%x $21.2 billion)= $20.14 billion

Also, using the CAGR of 5.02% of the global paint packaging market, the market size for the Veracious statistics research in 2018 is calculated using the CAGR formula i.e Initial revenue + (CAGR x Initial revenue)
= $34.27 billion + (5.02% x $34.27 billion)= $35.99 billion

Average global paint packaging market size in 2017= ($20.14 billion + $34.27 billion)/2= $27.2 billion.

Average global paint packaging market size in 2018= ($21.2 billion + $35.99 billion)/2= $28.6 billion

Market size of US paint packaging market out of the global market size in 2018= 19.1/100 x $28.6 billion= $5.46 billion
Market size of US paint packaging market out of the global market size in 2017= 19.1/100 x $27.2 billion= $5.2 billion

Growth of the US Paint Containers Market

Growth of the US paint containers Market= (Market size of US paint packaging market in 2018 - Market size of US paint packaging market in 2017) / Market size of US paint packaging market in 2017 x 100
Market size of US paint packaging market in 2018= $5.46 billion
Market size of US paint packaging market in 2017= $5.2 billion
Therefore growth of the US paint containers Market= ($5.46 billion-$5.2 billion)/$5.2 billion x 100= 5%

Percentage of the Market and Production Volume - Paint Containers

While there is not enough information to provide the yearly production volume for paint containers and the percentage of those that are using metal/plastic caps, the research team used the available information to provide useful insights. Metal containers dominated the paint packaging market in 2018 with 45.8% of the market share. Plastic remains one of the main segments but it is experiencing a decline in growth due to a shift in preference towards metal products.

  • According to Grand View Research, the 2018 paint packaging market size was $21.2 billion globally, and expanding at an annual CAGR of 4.3%.
  • Pails and cans was the most prominent segment in 2018 accounting for about 77.7% of the market worldwide.
  • Metal containers accounted for 45.8% of the global market in 2018 and the segment is expected to grow at 3.5% CAGR. This would also be the percentage of the containers that are using metal caps since metal containers would most likely have metal caps.
  • Steel, aluminum, and tin are the most preferred metals in the manufacture of paint packaging containers. Metals are also preferred over plastics because of durability and toughness.
  • Steel dominates the metal container category with about 25% being recyclable.
  • The key players in the paint packaging market are BWAY Corporation, Kian Joo Group, BCPL, Allied Cans Limited, Allstate Can Corporation, NCI Packaging, Seymour of Sycamore, Ball, and BCPL.
  • According to Future Market Insights, there are very few manufacturers of plastic paint cans currently on the market and it is very unlikely that there will be any new entrants due to the preference for eco-friendly non-plastic products.

RESEARCH STRATEGY

Our first strategy was to search through statistics and market research resources in the hope that research had been conducted to determine the number of paint containers used or produced annually. Our strategy produced multiple reports on the market size of the global paint packaging market from resources such as Grand View Research, Future Markets Insights, and Market Research Explore, among others. We also found similar information on Statista. While these resources provided information on the revenue (as provided in the initial "Market Size and Growth - Paint Containers" response) and the percentage share of the revenue from metal containers in the market, there was nothing that could enable us determine the yearly production volume for paint containers and the percentage of those are using metal/plastic caps.

From our initial strategy, we were able to identify the key players in the paint packaging market as BWAY Corporation, Kian Joo Group, BCPL, Allied Cans Limited, Allstate Can Corporation, NCI Packaging, Seymour of Sycamore, Ball, and BCPL. We decided to focus on these companies in the hope that they have highlighted any research on the global volumes. After finding none, we decided to explore their production volumes and use them to calculate the global estimate. However, this approach was dependent on the availability of production volumes for all the companies and information on their percentage share in the overall paint marketing market. None of which was available.

Third, we decided to leverage media resources and packaging-focused resources such as Packaging Insights, Packaging World, Packaging World Insights. We hoped that they had conducted or highlighted research on the overall packaging market segmented by use/purpose, and that the said research provided insights on the number and types of containers and caps used. While these resources provided insights and stats on the overall packaging industry and trends in the paint packaging market, there was nothing relevant to our quest.

As a last resort, the research team decided to try to triangulate the needed information. This we hoped to achieve by calculating the container unit volume using the end market size divided by the average retail price point or the packaging market size divided by the average wholesale price of packages. We searched through both the websites of the key producers and retail outlets but the information was unavailable since most producers require interested buyers to request for pricing, and retail vendors/outlets mainly focus on the sales of paint rather than containers. Even if the pricing information was available, estimation would have been hindered by the huge scope of options available on the market, i.e., "the global paint cans market is segmented as 1,000 ml and below, 1,001 – 2,000 ml, 2,001 – 3,000 ml, 3,001 – 4,000 ml, and 4,001 ml & above." Additionally, these sizes would have varying prices due to the type of product and material, i.e., pails would be priced differently from cans and bottles.

We believe that the information is available but behind paywall. We suggest exploring the aforementioned research reports as well as these from Transparency Market Research and Research Reports World which claim to provide the market size by both value and volume. As for the percentage of containers that are using metal/plastic caps, it is possible that it would be similar to or more than the percentage of metal containers since metal containers would most likely have metal caps.

In terms of products, the market is primarily segmented into 'soft tea pods', 'tea capsules' and 'hard tea pods' with the soft tea pods segment accounting for the major shares of this market.
  • The EMEA region is expected to be the major revenue contributor to the coffee pods market by 2021 owing to factors like growing premiumization and the need for convenient food and beverage products. Additionally, many consumers are opting to have breakfast at home rather than in cafes and restaurants in countries like Spain and Portugal and this has increased the demand for tea pods.

Research Strategy:

We were not able to find specific information for the US or North America market size of the coffee/tea pods containers market. This information is not publicly available or could not be triangulated from the available data. The information that we found only dealt with the global market size of the coffee/tea pods containers market along with the details of the market segmentation and key players operating in the industry. The various data points found also elucidated upon the forecasted CAGR and projected market size of the industry at global level. The primary reason for the information to be missing is the fact that the same is mainly behind the paywalls. All the reports and articles have enumerated the information on the global market size but have kept the US/North America information under wraps probably due to its niche. Hence, the same needs to be purchased. Below is the deep dive into the various strategies that we deployed in order to locate the US/North America market size information for the industry.
Our first strategy was to scour through the various research reports from Deloitte, Market Radar, Market Watch, Mordor Intelligence, Global Reports World, Mckinsey, Forrester Research, and Reuters for information on the US/North America coffee/tea pods containers market. These reports are the most potent source for the market size and growth related information for any industry and hence we decided to leverage this research path. While we were able to locate various reports on the coffee/tea pods containers market, all of them provided information on the global market size and growth of the industry. The same also contained information on market segmentation by raw materials, application and geography, but no quantitative details were publicly available on the US/North America market size specifically, and the information was hidden behind paywalls. We were also able to locate few US/North America specific reports for the coffee market as a whole wherein coffee pods was mentioned as one of the market segments, but again all the US market size data was hidden behind a paywall. Hence, this strategy did not prove fruitful.
Our second strategy was to go through media articles from Forbes, Businesswire, PRNewwire, WSJ, Reuters, Bloomberg, and LiveMint, statistical databases such as Statista, surveys from Pew Research, Nielsen etc on the US/North America coffee/tea pods containers market and various blogs such as 'Coffee Pods.co', 'Hayman Coffee', and 'Prima Pods.com'. All these are again potential sources that provide insights into key statistics, facts and market size and growth related data in any market and hence we tried to leverage this research path in order to check if any of these sources had reported any data around the US/North America market size of the coffee/tea pods containers market. However, no relevant information could be found. Most of the articles found referenced the report from Technavio and quoted global data from the same. No US/North America specific data for coffee/tea pods containers industry could be located and the strategy was unsuccessful.
Our third strategy was to go through the websites, reports, annual filings, blogs, and management commentary of some of the key US/North America based companies operating in the tea/coffee pods market such as Starbucks Corporation, The Republic of Tea, VitaCup, Kraft Foods Group, and Nespresso. Normally, companies disclose some information regarding the industry they operate in through their filings especially annual reports to give an idea of the size of their operations and hence the idea was to check if any of them had provided any market size rate related information on the tea/coffee pods containers industry in the US/North America. However, no relevant information could be found.
Our fourth strategy was to try to triangulate the information. For this, since we had the global market size of the coffee/tea pods containers market, the idea was to find the percentage share of the United States in the market.
If the global market size was found to be say $X million and the US/North America market share in the industry was found to be Y%, the US/North America market size could have been triangulated as $(X*Y/100) million. Alternatively, we also tried to find the information available in terms of 'number of units' so that we could state the market size in the form of number of units. However, no information on the US/North America market share was available. We were only able to learn that EMEA and Asia Pacific are among the more dominant markets that hold the key to the market growth and any demand changes from them is likely to have a ripple effect on the development trend of the tea/coffee pods containers industry. The share of some European countries like Switzerland was also available but none for US or for North America. Also, no data in terms of units was found either at the global level or at the US level. Therefore, the triangulation strategy was not successful.

Percentage of the Market and Production Volume - Coffee/Tea Pods

After an exhaustive search through credible sources, it appears that information on the number of coffee/tea pod containers that are produced each year and the percentage of those that utilize metal or plastic caps is unavailable in the public domain.

Helpful Findings

  • According to MarketWatch, from 2018 to 2025, the worldwide coffee pod and capsule market is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 8.5%. By the year 2025, its market size is anticipated to be $29.2 billion.

  • As of 2019, around 5% of all coffee pods are recyclable.

Research Strategy:

Our research began by searching through industry reports on the plastic closure and metal closure markets for coffee/tea pod containers. We looked for information on sites like MarketWatch, Research Hunt, IBIS World, and Mordor Intelligence, among others. The idea here was to locate research reports to find relevant information. However, this strategy did not work as there was no available data on the production of coffee/tea pods containers, and the reports were behind paywalls. We mostly found information on the coffee pod market size, plastic caps and closures market size, growth rate, etc.

Next, we explored the websites of companies producing plastic cups like Bericap, Aptar, Closure Systems International, and Crown Holdings, among others. We aimed to check the company websites, press releases, annual reports, etc., hoping that they have highlighted any research on the global volumes. After finding none, we decided to explore their production volumes and use them to calculate a global estimate. However, this approach was dependent on the availability of production volumes for all the companies and information on their percentage share in the overall market, none of which was readily available.

Afterward, we searched for media publications and websites that publish information on the packaging industry. We visited sites like Packaging Gateway, Packaging Insights, Packaging World, etc., hoping that the websites conducted or highlighted research on the overall packaging market segmented by use/purpose. We hoped that this research would provide insights on the number and types of containers and caps used. This strategy did not work as there was no relevant information available. At most, we found insights, trends, etc., on the overall packaging industry. We believed this strategy would work as these sites tend to publish news and articles covering the latest developments in the packaging space.

Finally, we attempted to triangulate the information. We looked for data on the end market size and average retail price point, or the packaging market size and average wholesale price of packaging for coffee/tea pods. We aimed to calculate the container unit volume using these data points. For this, we searched through the websites of the key producers, along with media publications such as Business Insider, PRNewswire, etc., but we were unable to locate useful information.

Due to the lack of useful data, we were unable to determine the number of coffee/tea pod containers that are produced each year or the percentage of those that use metal or plastic caps.
