  • Agrowatcher, Airmada and Aktibo are not active companies, either because they are declared as closed in company databases or based on the fact that their websites have been shut down.
  • The company in row 47, AI4CB, does not exist at all and there are no mentions of it existing in the past.

Research Strategy

We couldn't find any data regarding AI4CB. The company appears to have never existed. We have first searched in company databases like Crunchbase, Hoovers and Start-Up Nation, but there were no mentions of the company, or any company with a similar name. Then, we have proceeded to perform a general press search, both on international websites like Bloomberg and PRNewsWire and on Israeli media outlets like the Times of Israel, looking for any articles that might mention AI4CB in any way. However, no such articles existed. Finally, we have resorted to using the Wayback Machine to search Internet archives, assuming that the company has not been active for some time, but that we would be able to find mentions of the company if we searched the snapshots of the aforementioned websites from several years ago. This also did not produce any relevant results, so we have concluded that AI4CB does not exist and has never existed in the past.

Research Strategy

We started the research directly searching through the official websites for the companies listed in rows 216 to 245. The idea here was to perform a thorough search through the company websites, press releases, and publications since companies declare information such as their activity status, acquisition by other companies, and funding information. After checking through all companies, we found that all the companies are active along with other requested details. However, while looking for the company details of Bizzydesk, we discovered that the company's original website (as confirmed by Zoom Info as well) was www.bizzydesk.com and not 'www.maspick.co.il/live_landing/' as provided in the spreadsheet. Although we did not make any change in column B (websites), we provided the original web address.

Further, we searched through various databases such as CrunchBase, PitchBook, and Startup Nation Central, among others. The idea here was to find any pre-compiled information on the companies’ activity status, acquisition, parent company, and funding information. Using the sources mentioned above, we were able to find additional details such as investments in these companies for each year from 2016 to 2019, along with acquisitions and IPO launches, wherever applicable.

Then we searched through various press releases and publications on websites specializing in investment and startup fundings such as PR Newswire, Fintech Futures, and Venture Beat. The idea here was to find any articles or media publications that would provide any information related to the companies’ acquisition, activity status, and funding information, among others. Using the sources mentioned above, we were able to find additional details such as investments in these companies for each year from 2016 to 2019.

Of the 30 jobs listed in rows 246-275, Burning Solar and Cabara is no longer active. BriefCam was acquired by Canon for $90 million. All the requested information has been entered in the attached spreadsheet.

The Companies

  • BriefCam was acquired by Canon on May 9, 2018.
  • BreezoMeter raised $7.8 million in 2018 and $3 million in 2016.
  • BriefTrace has no record of any funding for the years 2016 through 2019.
  • BrightSource Industries has raised a total of $805.3 million, but has not received any funds since it raised $3.9 million in 2016.
  • Bumpyard has changed its name to Commbox. The company has not received any funding between 2016 and 2019.

Research Strategy

We could not identify the funding rounds of some of the companies. We commenced our research began by exploring the companies' websites. The idea here was to comb through the sites, annual reports, press releases, etc. to find the requested data. However, this research strategy did not yield the results we were seeking. We believed this strategy would work as companies often publish details about their funding on their websites. At most, we found details on company overview, products/services, etc.
Next, we searched through company databases such as Crunchbase, Pitchbook, StartupHub, among others, to see if they published the requested details. This strategy worked to an extent as we found information on funding, company overview, acquisition, etc. for most of the companies, but there were no funding details available for others. We believed that this approach would work as these databases tend to publish information about various companies.
Finally, we scoured through media publications and websites specializing in investments and startups such as PR Newswire, Fintech Futures, Venture Beat, etc. to find any articles or media publications that could provide information related to the companies' acquisitions, activity status, and funding. However, this strategy did not work as there were no such publications available. We believed that this approach would work as these sites usually publish business-related news about different companies.

Therefore, after exhausting the research strategies above, we have provided all the requested details as available in the public domain with the conclusion that the companies we could not provide any funding data for have not received any funding between 2016 and 2019.

  • Canary raised $25 million in 2018, which was led by Smartfrog.

  • Cannbit Pharmaceuticals went public March 2016, but has had two post-IPO funding rounds.
  • Cappitech raised $4 million in 2018 from 83North, its only investment until date.

Research Strategy

To identify the status of each company, the research team started by directly searching through the official websites for the companies listed in rows 276 to 305. We looked out for news articles and press releases that provided details such as activity status, acquisition by other companies, and funding information. After checking through all companies, we found that all the companies are active. That said, the research team was unable to locate the official website for Cardroid (Row 299). After searching through additional sources such as Kick Starter and Google Play Store, it was found that “Cardroid” is an app built and marketed by a company named "UonMap International Limited" and the app is still available for download on Google Play Store, thereby, confirming that it is still active. We, therefore, provided the requested information for the company named "UonMap International Limited".
Next, the research team searched through various databases such as CrunchBase, PitchBook, and Startup Nation Central, among others. The idea was to find data information on the companies’ activity status, acquisition, parent company, and funding information. Using the above-mentioned sources, the research team was able to find additional details such as the funding received for each year from 2016 to 2019. Kindly note that funding information for some companies was only available in other currencies. The research team, therefore, had to use an online currency converter to present the data in US$ in such cases.
The research team also looked through various press releases and publications on websites specializing in investment and startup funding such as PR Newswire, Fintech Futures, and Venture Beat. The idea here was to find articles or media publications that would provide any information related to the companies’ acquisition, activity status, and funding information among others. Using the above-mentioned sources, we were able to find additional details such as the funding received by some of these companies for each year from 2016 to 2019.
Thereby, after exhausting the research strategies above, we have provided all the requested details as available in the public domain with the conclusion that the companies we could not provide any funding data for have not received any funding.

Of the companies in rows 306-335 of the attached spreadsheet, only two are no longer active (Celliboost and CheckUnion). Two companies in these rows have gone public (CEVA and Check Point Software Technologies), and two have been acquired (Cellebrite and Checkmarx). All other details are on the attached spreadsheet.

Celliboost

  • Celliboost does not have a Crunchbase record, but the last information about the company was in 2016.
  • Celliboost's website is no longer functional, so it is assumed this company is no longer active.

Cheetah Labs

  • Cheetah Labs does not have a Crunchbase record, but the company's website is active.
  • All indications on the website show that Cheetah Labs is still active, but there is no record of any funding for the years 2016-2019.

CheckUnion

  • This company does not appear to exist at all as there is no website, no reference to it in any media, and no Crunchbase page.

Research Strategy

All information was obtained through Crunchbase where available. Only three companies did not have a Crunchbase page, which were Celliboost, Cheetah Labs, and CheckUnion. To find any information on the status and funding of these companies, we started with their websites. Typically, companies announce funding rounds. The only company of the three that has an active website is Cheetah Labs and there were no indications that it had received any funding since 2016. We then searched for any media announcements of funding for Cheetah Labs in sources such as Forbes, Inc, Fast Company, and the like. There were announcements for the funding of Cheetah Medical, but this is not the same company. Therefore, we assumed Cheetah Labs has not received any funding in the past four years.

Since Celliboost's website is no longer active, we assumed the company is also no longer active. The last post for Celliboost on Twitter was in 2016 and there has been no media coverage of Celliboost since 2016. Therefore, we determined this company is no longer operational. Likewise, for CheckUnion, there was no website available, no media coverage, and no social media pages. Therefore, we assumed this company does not exist.

Research Strategy:

During our research, we were unable to find the funding amounts for some of the companies. Below is an outline of the research strategy we employed to look for this information.

Of the 30 companies listed in rows 396-425, only four have been acquired. They are Commerce Sciences, Connected Benefits, CoolaData, and Corephotonics. All other information has been provided in the attached project spreadsheet.

Company Information

Research Strategy

To fulfill this request, we mostly sourced information from the Crunchbase pages of the companies. During our research, we realized that in a few cases such as that of Commerce Sciences and Connected Benefits, the acquisition information and/or funding amounts for specific years were not disclosed on their Crunchbase pages. To get around this, we checked the company's website for any official press releases with the required information. When we realize that the required information isn't available on the website, we proceeded to check notable third-party news websites such as Techcrunch for technology companies, GlobeNewsWire, and Inc. After employing all these methods and no information was found, we proceeded to enter N/A in the relevant columns of the spreadsheet.

Also, our research revealed that the funding amount for the company Corlytics was reported in Euros. In this case, we made use of a currency converter to convert the figures from Euros to USD and have entered the converted figures in the project spreadsheet.

CymbIoT

  •  CymbIoT does not have a Crunchbase record — but the company's website is active.

Research Strategy

All information was obtained through Crunchbase where available. Only one page did not have a Crunchbase page, which was CymbIoT. To find any information on the status and funding of this company, we started with its website. Typically, companies announce funding rounds. We then searched for any media announcements of funding for CymbIoT in sources such as Forbes, Inc, Fast Company, and the like. Therefore, we assumed CymbIoT has not received any funding in the past four years.
For Cymmetria and Cy-oT, we searched through Crunchbase for any information and value of their acquisitions by Stage Fund and Orchestra Group but we were unfruitful. To find get more information on the status and any figures about the acquisitions of the companies, we searched through Orchestra Group and Stage Fund websites- companies announce new acquisitions. We then searched for any media announcements of the same acquisitions of Cymmetria and Cy-oT in sources such as Forbes, Inc, Fast Company, and the like. Without any concrete information we concluded that the companies did not disclose the acquisitions amounts.
