LipoCoat and Interface Polymers are two innovative, groundbreaking companies in the coatings industry. LipoCoat aims to disrupt with its "bio-inspired" 5nm coatings, whereas Interface Polymers' Polarfin additives will transform polyolefin and its applications.

LipoCoat

  • LipoCoat specializes in "bio-inspired" coatings, mimicking natural cell membrane layers.

To find both pieces of information, we first scoured the company websites and news sections for any relevant press releases or news coverage. When this did not prove fruitful, we then changed strategies slightly and searched for interviews with C-suite executives or founders, hoping that information given by these senior employees might reveal customer or pricing information. LipoCoat had almost no information to demonstrate it had actual customers yet, and all the direct quotes from Interface Polymers merely referred to "customers" in a vague, broad sense.

As a third strategy, we then checked business listings and review websites, as sometimes these can list pricing information and testimonials from actual customers. Again, as such new companies, aiming to develop innovative technology in the coatings industry, there was simply no information available using this approach. Therefore, we concluded that this information was not publicly available.

Qlayers is currently developing Sharkskin technology, 10Q project and upgrades to its Slash technology. The spray-painting drone is a product by Apellix, which is still in the development stage and to be launched in 2020.

Qlayers Coating Technologies

  • Slash100: Qlayers developed a smart printing head called the "Slash100" which is an autonomous painting robot that is used to create "microstructures in existing topcoats." The Slash100 hardware is used to apply coatings automatically without overspray. This equipment is used to coat large surfaces under varying weather conditions. The Slash100 improves the current coating process globally by reducing man-hours and the coating materials needed. The technology also improves quality, efficiency, and safety in the coating industry. The company's Slash100 technology is capable of applying "innovative functional coatings" that can offer more color and protection.
  • E-paint: Qlayers partnered with Mis7 to develop "an electric power-producing paint called E-paint." The coating provided by this equipment produces electricity when applied to any surface. This electricity also works at night, underground or in space. The electricity produced by the coating is also enough to power street lights at night.
  • Sharkskin: Qlayers invented a technology called the Sharkskin that can be used to print microstructures on surfaces. The microstructure reduces "friction drag in water or air up to 6%." However, this technology is still been researched and developed further as researchers have found it challenging to apply the structures on a larger scale.

Overview

Coating Technology

  • Apellix offers dry film thickness testing (DFT) of coatings and ultrasonic testing (UT) of material wall thickness using nondestructive testing drones to help eliminate the exposure to dangerous substances or access to elevated industrial surfaces.
  • To perform the testing, the drones are navigated to the desired inspection area, and the autonomous flight mode is activated.
  • The onboard computer then flies the aircraft programmatically to the surface of the material and makes contact for measurement readings.

We searched through the press releases, products listing, and blog sections of the website. Unfortunately, the company did not make available information on its clients. Next, we combed through review sites and business databases in hopes of finding testimonials and case studies from customers which could be used to provide information on Qlayers pricing and customers. This strategy also didn't prove productive as there was no information on customers using the platform. As a third strategy, we searched for interviews with C-suite executives or founders of the company, mentions of Qlayers in media sites like Chemeurope, Coating World Magazine, Eco Business, among others. The goal was to find customer success stories and quotes from the leadership of Qlayers on companies using the platform. From the company's website and press releases, we acquired relevant details about nanoCare's overview, technology, awards, and geographical focus. For its CEO's contact information, we initially checked the company website, which usually lists c-level executive profile details of a company. However, this approach did not yield any details on the CEO. We then searched through its social media profiles for its CEO, as emails are usually mentioned on the social media profiles. Though we found a Facebook profile, the contact information was not mentioned. We then searched through email locator databases such as Rocket Reach and Hunter.io, but this approach also did not lead to any results. Hence, we listed the company's contact details for CEO Oliver Sonntag.
Also, we did not find any other c-level executives listed on the company's website. The reason for this could be that it is a jointly owned private company and is not obligated to disclose the members of its core team publicly. In most of the press releases we came across, it was mentioned that the company re-organized their corporate structure in early 2018, and we assumed that other c-level executive positions might not exist in the current hierarchy. We reviewed the company's LinkedIn profile, which only listed four employees, and none were c-level executives. Therefore, we concluded that the company only has a CEO as a c-level executive.
We decided to list other individuals holding high-level positions in the company, such as the chairman and the Board of Directors' representative as additional findings.

All attempts to Identify the customers and the prices of nanoCare products and services proved abortive. First, we conducted a thorough search through the company's website in an attempt to find out who their clients and customers are. We searched through all five product categories offered by the company and also other sections of the website but found no information about their customers and pricing detail. We also looked into the website of the parent company, NanoCare Group, to know if they have mentioned the key customers they deal with but found no such information.

Next, we searched through the public domain for any news article or press release that might have made mention of the product prices or customers of NanoCare. This strategy yielded no result as most of the media publications online available only provided analysis of the different products by the company with no mention of the prices of the products or the customers who patronize the company. Furthermore, we tried to look at the company's review by different ceramic coating review sources such as the Super Ceramic Coatings and Car Bibles. We were unable to find any reviews of their products with any of the sources.

Lastly, we searched through the database of company analysis and industry analysis sites such as Research and Markets report and Physics World for available information regarding the customers and pricing details of nanoCare. This strategy also yielded no result as there was no listing of the companies customers or pricing information by any of the sources used. We, therefore, concluded that nanoCare has neither published its product pricing nor its customer details to the public domain.

To obtain information about ChromaSol International LLC and its technology innovation, we searched through the company's website, indicated as being under development, and could only obtain a brief overview of the company's Lightguard innovation. We redirected our search to the company's networking and social media platforms including LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook with the hope of finding relevant links or any marketing posts containing product pricing information but this did not yield any results. The company's LinkedIn page was relatively inactive, having only 5 followers.

We then searched through relevant industry resources such as Coatings World, Science Bio, and Solve, along with market news channels in the public domain which provided some more detailed information on the company's technology innovation, award nominations, and a mention of its team members, but none on the CEO's contact or product pricing details.

Finally, we searched through business listings and review websites such as Business.com, Amazon Marketplace, and Angie's List among others, with the hope of finding product listings or customer reviews disclosing pricing information but this too did not yield any results. Email and phone finder tools such as Email Hunter, Anymail Finder, and Skrapp were also used in an attempt to find the CEO's email address or phone number. We concluded that the companies' pricing information and the CEO's phone and email address were not publicly available.

SGMA

Although the company's website is still under construction, it provided a general phone number and email address. On the assumption that the company may have also created a work email address for its CEO, we then attempted to use an email finder like Hunter to get a probable email address for the CEO, Dr. Fanya Ismail. However, this approach did not yield any results.
Given that Dr. Fanya Ismail has a background in research, and runs SGMA, which is a research & technology development company, we searched for any of her research publications, since research publications usually contain the email and contact addresses of the researchers. While we could not find any recent publications, we found several publications with her name. The most recent one was published in 2010 with her email address (fanya.ismail@manchester.ac.uk), telephone (+44 (0)161 3064895), and fax (+44 (0)161 3064911). Since the publication is from 2010, the chances are that the corresponding contact information is outdated. However, we have provided the company's contact information as a proxy, as well as the CEO's LinkedIn address.
