What is the business model of industrial robot companies?
Hi there, and thank you for your request for the top integrators OEMs work with.
The short answer is that some of the top integrators working with robotic OEMs are Rockwell Automation, Sage Automation, Concept Systems, Alliance Robotics, Antenen Robotics, ABB and Yaskawa Motoman.
However, after extensive research through consultancy reports, market players' annual reports and specialized media articles, I have determined that pre-compiled lists of the top integrators are not publicly available, and any other attempts at creating a list proved futile, since most manufacturers keep their partnerships with integrators private.
I elaborate on my answer below.
METHODOLOGY & NOTES
In order to answer your query, I first looked at my colleague Michael B.'s first response to your request, as well as searched for pre-compiled lists of the top integrators robotics OEMs work with in consultancy reports, specialized media and market players' annual reports.
Please note that this response will focus on top integrators in the robotics OEM market, without repeating or complementing any information already received in the previous response.
Please note that, as noted on the previous response, no information on current partnerships of top robotics OEMs has been made available, either by the companies themselves in their annual reports, or on any study by consultancies and specialized media like Technavio, Robotics Industries Association, IDC or Robotics Online.
Therefore, I opted for compiling a list of seven integrators that robotics OEMs work with, including some that have been named top by industry experts like Technavio, and others that are repeatedly mentioned in specialized media.
Please note that Rockwell Automation was mentioned on a top list by Technavio dating back to 2014, but since they are still operative and repeatedly mentioned in industry reports I decided to include them.
I have listed below also two companies that have been identified as Technavio as among the top five leading vendors in the used and refurbished robots markets, which according to research analyst Sushmit Chakraborty, "majorly comprises system integrators that procure used robots that are at most used for 10 years from end-users." These two companies (Alliance Robotics, Antenen Robotics) also offer traditional integration solutions.
Also note that some companies listed below, such as ABB and Sage Automation, are also manufacturers as well as integrators.
Please note that the list below is compiled in no particular order.
ROBOTICS INTEGRATORS
Rockwell Automation is an automation provider, working for industries like automotive, chemicals, entertainment and fiber and textiles.
Its integration system uses a plug-and-play technology, connecting robots through EtherNet or IP, with a software and interface that simplify operations and maintenance.
An OEM in its own right, Sage is also a certified integrator for Fanuc Robots. The company focuses in handling material through engineering and fabrication, based on the customer's needs.
They have expertise in industries like food and beverage, printing, tire and rubber, roll handling, pipe and tube, packaging and distribution.
Concept Systems is an automation company in a variety of markets, including vision and robotics. Among its services it offers basic picking, sorting, enhanced vision inspection, end of arm tooling, machine vision, complete design and integration.
Alliance Robotics is listed by Technavio as one of the top five leading vendors in the used and refurbished robots markets.
Alliance Robotics works in alliance with Fanuc Robotics, and offers integration solutions from planning and integration to training and servicing, focusing on how these needs can be met with used or new robots.
Antenen Robotics is listed by Technavio as one of the top five leading vendors in the used and refurbished robots markets.
Antenen also offers "safe, reliable and economical robotic solutions," including tooling design, fabrication, installation, programming and training. Expertise includes robotic welding cells, machine loading, die-cast tending and parts picking.
ABB is a market vendor, and a top 10 manufacturer by revenue, which also offers a software development kit that can be used to build add-ons, available to other manufacturers.
Another top 10 manufactuer by revenue, Yaskawa Motoman offers technology solution that helps other manufacturers be competitive globally in the robotic market.
Among its services are machine tending, removal, painting, handling, packaging, palletizing and clinical lab.
CONCLUSION
To wrap up, some integrators working with robotic OEMs are Rockwell Automation, Sage Automation, Concept Systems, Alliance Robotics, Antenen Robotics, ABB and Yaskawa Motoman.
