What are the build costs of top action and adventure sports destination facilities in the world?

The average adventure sports destination should cost approximately $2,337,356 for the build. While few adventure sports facilities disclose their exact costs, I was able to triangulate an accurate estimate based on data available through marketing studies & public information. In order to provide an accurate estimate, I opted to determine the top features of an action sports facility and determine the separate costs based on activity. Using the data provided, I have broken down the adventure sports facility into four primary activities: skateboarding/BMX parks, trampoline parks, parkour courses, and climbing gyms.

SKATEPARK
The average price to design and build a skate park is $45 per square foot. The average square footage is 11,876 sq/ft with an average cost of $262,481 for the entire facility (post-construction).

TRAMPOLINE PARK
The average size of a trampoline park in the United States is between 25,000 and 35,000 square feet. The average cost of building a trampoline park is between 1.2 to 1.8 million dollars — with an average of $1.5 million.

PARKOUR COURSE
While there is limited information on parkour gym costs, there is plethora information on gymnastics gym costs which are comparable to a parkour gym. Obstacles, foam pits, spring floors and other facilities are common to both gyms. The average size of a gymnastics facility is 15,000 sq/ft with an average income of $765,000 and a facilities cost of 33% of gross income for mortgage and additional expenses.

$765,000 x 0.33 = $252,000/yr

CLIMBING GYM
The average full-service climbing gym in Canada is 6,750 sq/ft and in the USA is 13,750 sq/ft. This makes an average of 10,250 sq/ft. It costs between $25-$38 per square foot to build a climbing wall based on the above facility size.

10,250 x 31.50 = $322,875

CALCULATION
Based on the criteria above, I was able to estimate a build cost of the following:

Skate park: $262,481
Trampoline Park: $1,500,000
Parkour Gym: $252,000
Climbing Gym: $322,875

Total: $2,337,356.00

DIFFERENCES
Depending on the activities that one chooses for their adventure sports facility, the costs can vary widely. If the facility includes a white water rafting course, for example, the costs could balloon towards $25 million.

CONCLUSION
Based on the facilities provided, I was able to determine a core group of activities (skateboard/BMX, trampoline, parkour and climbing). There is much information available about the costs to build such facilities individually, and I was able to triangulate a figure of $2,337,356 based on the above costs.
