Benchmarking Specialty Chemical Distributors: Part Two

Chem-Materials, Kohl Marketing and Maroon Group are all distributors for specialty chemicals. This past year, Chem-Materials and Kohl Marketing were limited in their transitions to either one or two. However, Maroon Group had several that included expansion of its distribution network, additions to its product line, and acquisitions of other distribution companies. Those transitions are listed in the findings below.

  • Chem-Materials serves 28 states throughout the Midwest United States, with warehouses in Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, Indiana and Georgia.

Research Strategy

The research team reviewed each company's website to learn more about their products and partners. A review of company press releases and announcements provided the information needed to assist with answering the number of transitions each company had. Chem-Materials only had one transition in the past year, so information for the previous year, 2018 was included. The transitions for Chem-Materials and Kohl Marketing mostly consisted of expansion of their distribution network. However, Maroon Group had expansion in their product line, distribution and acquisitions. During 2019, Cambrian Solutions was acquired by Maroon Group, hence the reason they are included in the findings.
