In 2017 who are the top 10 organisations (in Revenue order) profiting from selling personal data (include the actual revenues). Also, what was the total aggregated reported revenues in 2017 and in future years.

The list of top ten organisations on the basis of sales revenue that are profiting from selling personal data includes Experian PLC, Equifax, and LexisNexis Group. The total aggregated revenue of data brokering industry in 2017 was estimated to be $223 billion, with CAGR of 11.5% per annum.

Methodology

I searched through industry reports and trusted media sites to find the requested information. I did find a list of the top ten global data broker companies, but it's not clear if this list is in order. I looked for several other sources to confirm the ranking of the companies on the list. Then, I searched for the recent revenue details of each company for the year 2016 to rank the companies based on revenue. In the case where exact data was not available, I used Owler as an estimate. It was difficult to find the revenue of data brokering alone, so I included the total company details. I have provided the revenue details of the companies for the year 2016 and 2017 (if available) for each company. For total aggregated reported revenues in 2017, I had to triangulate the information, found below.

Total Aggregated Reported Revenues (Market Size) in 2017

A recent report published by Transparency Market Research (TMR) reveals that the global data broker market is growing with CAGR of 11.5% during the year 2017 to 2026. Other similar report states that the data broker industry generated around $200 billion in annual revenue. Since the revenue year is not mentioned I assumed it's for 2016 as perthe article date.

Calculation:
As per request, I assumed that "total aggregated reported revenues in 2017" is the market size of the data brokering industry and showed the calculations and growth rates as future projections accordingly. Therefore,
global market value (aggregated revenue) of data brokering industry for 2016 = $200 Billion.
CAGR = 11.5% p.a
Global market value in 2017 = $200bn *1.115^1
=$223 Billion
There, the total aggregated revenue of data brokering industry in 2017 was estimated to be $223 billion increasing with CAGR of 11.5% per annum.
